I remember when there was a "moving or traveling Wall". It went from city to city. It was a very emotional experience. Then when I was in Washington D.C. I saw the real wall. I looked for my deceased classmate's name but I had a hard time finding it. There were so many. This is a poignant tribute to all those who gave their lives and their loved ones. Thank you.

This is a tear jerking entry ..
So much implied in such a few words .
I will alway remember what my mother said .. she was born in 1935 in Holland and was 10 when the war ended.
Quote:
Until her generation dies the atrocities of WW2 won't be forgotten .. after that she would say ..God help us!
In general , the younger generations are not in interested in what happened some 75 years ago .. they take being free for granted .. full stop.
It's important to remember instead what happened so we can avoid it happening again.
....we should learn from our errors at least , right?

Hi Franca... I so agree with your mother and her perception that it will probably be forgotten. I truly thank you for your wise review and comments on this verse.

Hello Gloria. Thank you. We live two hours south of DC, so when I go and stand near the Wall, I am always deeply moved and walk away sober minded. I wanted to convey that in verse.... Thank you for your lovely review!!

Wow... an extremely short format that delivers an extremely powerful vision - wonderful one, Melissa! If I had a six, my lady, twould be yours for the emotions you manage to convey in only eight syllables - well done! ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck! ;) Yvette

Outstanding job in the penning of this heartfelt poem. The artwork is perfect and very few words speaks volume. My husband is a Vietnam and Gulf war vet, my heart goes out to the many families who have lost loved ones. Thanks for sharing, the very best to you in the contest.
Blessings...Portia

Although Vietnam was my generation, I have never been to the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. If I were to go, I know I'd weep. A very powerful poem in so few syllables. Rod

This is a really great 2-4-2 entry, and the picture perfectly goes with it. I think you have done very well with this, and I appreciated reading it very much. Nicely done with so little space.

What a fitting picture to accompany your poem. Even though years have passed, the sorrow will not go away. People still mourn their lost loved ones. I've never seen the wall, but it must be an emotional experience for those who visit. This should do extremely well in the contest. Best of luck. judi

Hello Judi... after seeing the Wall in DC, I was very touched and moved by the list of name after name. I did see weeping ~ it was very solemn there. Thank you for your lovely words.

What a powerful poem especially using so few words. A nice tribute to the men at war, how they may be gone but not forgotten. Your artwork is beautiful, perfect for your poem.
