My wife put me and her children ahead of her needs our whole life. Often, I find myself asking her what she would really like to do, but when its all said and done she finds some way to be a blessing to our grown children who have a need. I always tell people that I fell in love with her because I knew she would love our future children with unconditional sacrifice. I sense this too, that through your poetry and memoir that you found the turn and direction that took you along to have a family to be worthy and without regrets. Blessed to read of your timely poems and prose.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. It sounds as though your wife found in you what I found in my husband. I'm so glad you've had a marriage filled with love.

Dear Beth, this time I have bunches of six stars at hand and wanted to let you understand that these are for all the excellent writings that you do.
As for what I particularly liked about this sonnet. Let me mention in particular :
#1 The notion that our lives are pathways that we have chosen, and like in your beautiful illustration, we can not see over the next hill to see what lies in store. What event for good or ill. Will dictate the conditions that we must journey thru.
#2 The notion that when new people enter our lives, new pathways that were not there before, can suddenly appear, and the number of options open to us are increased many times over. Both of these are universal truths of the human experience.

Lovely tribute to your husband! Flows beautifully in rhythm and excellent rhyme. Fresh twist on imagery: drummer sounded out a different beat! Cheers. LIZ

Congrats on you well-deserved prize!

Oh , I love the way you said , the drummer in bottom of your heart , thunder fight in brain , fountian spring from the heat magma ï¼?windstorm and sand sweeping upon the ground ï¼?the leavies mutiny on the tree ï¼?the glass waggleing and betray from the fram of window , then waves landing on shore and tranquillnes .

This is so true. Often we think we have our lives mapped out - with all the chosen paths and routes highighted in our minds. Then we get detoured and realize that that was the route we were meant to take. Life is full of surprises. And aren't we better off for it? Your poem has provided some food for thought...

This is well written, full of meaning, soul searching, and decision making. This poem should do well in the Sonnet Poetry Contest. Good luck!

A good friend of mine, and Country Music Hall of Fame member, once wrote a song about doing a lot of things different. That is what the first portion of this poem reminds me of.

The poem goes on to illustrate coming of age and leaving home to strike out on your own in search of life.

Finally, the poem shows how finding the right one becomes the main focal point all strive for.

Well crafted and should appeal to many readers.

Your sonnet is skillfully-composed, descriptive, and moving. It is natural to wonder "What if . . . ?" Your description of meeting THE one and the difference he made is uplifting.

The author's words were interesting, clear and creative. I ponder on the author's words and thought about how we can't change our paths. To me it sounds like you chose the right path! The artwork is breathtaking and compliments this poem.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I feel I did choose the right path. The things we think we want while growing up aren't necessarily what we need at all.

Beautifully written and so powerful words. When I was a child I was in an arranged marriage I was married for 21 years. What I gained from that marriage was my 4 beautiful children. Your poem makes me think what if I wasn't in that marriage.. how would my life have changed.. now I am getting a divorce. Now I found my true love. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the review and the lovely comments. I heard arranged marriages can work but I have my doubts. If you've found live, that matters. I wish you the best.
