Sandra,

Your husband is very talented! I enjoyed this post on the animals as much as all the others I've seen and read. Don't the hippos also run at a rather remarkable speed for their size? Isn't it around 20mph or something like that?

I don't remember exactly, but I remember being surprised.

Interesting stuff. Thanks~

Hi Robyn, thank you for reading this letter. Yes, they do run fast, up to 35 mph. I put that they run fast in my poem, and meant to put just how fast in the fun facts. Incredible, isn't it, when you realise how big they are. I'll go and add it now. Thanks for the lovely review, my friend. Have a lovely day. :)) Sandra xx

Yay, hippos! Your poem captured them perfectly. Even though your last fact was sad, over the decline, I was glad you could focus on the happier aspects. I just love to watch them swim, when their little eyes pop up from the water!

Aww, thank you so much for the six stars, Chloe, and the lovely review. I've decided to add the facts about whether they are an endangered species, or not, because the children will be their next protectors, hopefully, and we need to get them involved in their safety, now. As this is for slightly older children, they'll be able to act on it. They are such amazing animals it would be a crime to lose them now. Thank you again, my dear friend, I do so appreciate your comments. Have a lovely day!! :)) Sandra xx

This is a marvellous combination of skilfully written fun and informative facts. I like how you have introduced the endangered aspect too - it is such a shame when amazing animals face decline through exploitation.

Thank you so much, Lisa, for your lovely review of my letter H. I really appreciate your comments. The exploitation of all our endangered animals is a disgrace. Have a wonderful day, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

(...Add the words THEY WERE named by Greeks...which has been named (omit comma) blood sweat...) This is excellent; many books geared toward children are dumbed down. Yours is jam-packed with fascinating details that will be of much interest to adults as well. Cheers. LIZ

I enjoyed reading about your letter H for the Hippopotamus. I learned a ton of amazing details and interesting facts about these large animals. I love that you started out with a fun poem, followed by the fun facts. It was very interesting, entertaining, and educational. Your husband did an amazing job with the picture. He's very talented as well!

Fascinating animals and they live for up to 35 years! I enjoy this book you are making for your grandson. What a treasure and heirloom this will be. I feel guilty as I have a small, tiny ivory trinket (probably for a necklace) that I inherited from my Grandmother - about the size of my pinky finger tip. I have not idea what kind of ivory ...

Thank you so much, Margaret, for this lovely review. I think many people have, or had, something that was made with the ivory. I remember my grandmother had a set of cutlery with ivory handles. No one knew back then just how the ivory was being 'harvest' for want of a better word. The media has played a vital part in bringing it to the attention of us all, which they didn't have back then. Treasure the gift, my friend. Have a wonderful day! :)) Sandra xx

Love the artwork drawn by Graham. I wanted to get right into the letter H on seeing that happy hippopotamus.

I much enjoy your set up with a poem first that gives us a tidbit about this fascinating animals and then going into the larger section illustrating most interesting facts about these animals. 9000 pounds is a pretty big boy I'd say and the red oil is also good to know.

I'm very enjoying this series so many thanks for sharing, Sandra. :)

Bless you, Gloria, thank you so much for this lovely review. It's so nice to know you enjoyed reading about this humongous animal. Graham is doing such a wonderful job illustrating my poem, I wish I'd used him before, lol. Have a wonderful day, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I guess I don't want one for Christmas after all. Eighty pounds of food a day! I can't afford that, especially in the winter time. Not to mention I hear they're pretty ferocious. Great choice for H.

This is really lovely. So informative. Great pictures and colors. I think you will need to resolve the singular/plural issue in Line 1 & 2 or poetry.
Maybe something like: they have such hefty heads.
Your grandson will benefit greatly by this lovely gift. He will feel the love and desire behind it too!
Thank you for sharing your excellent work with all of us!
Well done!

Thank you so much for this lovely review, Lucy. I have corrected that second line, and in line 3 as well. Now it all reads in the plural. Thank you so much for pointing that out. I'm also very pleased you enjoyed this, and like what I'm doing for my grandson. Have a wonderful day, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx
