A loving, wise, caring teacher is sometimes a four-foot-three person with a grin. I love how you used the name 'Mary Lou'. It reminds me of Dr. Seuss's character 'Sindy Lou'. It's a very nice appreciative poem.

Great work on this piece, I really enjoyed the story here and the well-paced poetry. Great message as well; there is often more value in art than what meets the eye.
One edit:
Of course, I've been taught by many who ought
To be honored; and yet I insist
That dear Mary Lou should be given her due
And placed at the top of the list.

Thank you so much. I'm not sure what your edit is. Can you enlighten me?

Sorry, I should have been more clear! I just edited this line:
To be honored; and yet I insist
with a semicolon rather than a full stop. It works either way, just thought this might flow better.

Thanks again. I appreciate it.

This poem meets the requirements for the contest. It has a very good chance of winning the contest. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Nice work! Good luck in the contest!

Thank you for your review. And thanks as well for not attributing the grammar in the first stanza to me.

I wish I had a teacher like Mary Lou when I was growing up. Children of all ages who are blessed with Mary Lous in their lives grow up with confidence and hope in their minds and hearts.

This was a very cute poem with a positive message. I wonder if she really was a lady in real life. Either way, this is a good poem to talk about teacher appreciation.

It likely isn't surprising for me to say, but I love the sentiment expressed in this poem: recognizing the value of something simply for having been created can be more important and have more of an impact than any assessment of that thing's quality. It brought to mind how fortunate I was to have more than a few Mary Lou-esque teachers throughout my own schooling, so thanks for that.

A fine creation, you should be very proud of this work!
If it had been introduced with an end rhyme in the first half of stanza 1 (simply swapping Mary Lou said to said Mary Lou- for the purpose of rhyming with the following line) I would have rated it 6 stars!
