Your poem is a delight to read for its structured rhythm and rhyme and for its inspirational topic of inclusivity. We can't all be brilliant artists (or anything in particular), but if we are treated with respect and included in activities without criticism we will feel accepted and worthy.
Teaching situations can sometimes come from unexpected quarters.
Congratulations on your placing in the prompt.

I love it! Mary Lou was a TOP teacher indeed! She not only reproached Clara for having been waiting her arrival lazily but at the same time assigned her a task in red to be executed and drawn on the white sheet of paper but also considered her work of art with admiration and encouragement . Only unique teachers know this personal rare teaching method. Great provocative work! Brava!

And so, when I think about teachers
I recall Mary Lou with affection.
The child hasn't let me ever forget
That love counts far more than perfection.
This is such a lovely glimpse of time. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

This has a wonderful message. A truth to it. The rhymes are fantastic and so is the rhythm. Totally enjoyed it from start to finish. This is a fabulous piece of work. Good luck in the contest.

I was moved by the drawing, it reveals that my 3 year old grandson is a great artist ant will become a leader. Of scripture tells me a child shall, why? Because a child has that purity of heart. Thank you for the dedication to teachers, my wife and two daughters, Elaine a teacher of youth, and my two girls teachers of children. Well done, beautifully written, good luck, blessings, Roy

Thanks for sharing this writing about a child having a kind heart and reaching out to involve another child in what they're doing. You are exactly right that treating people with love and respect is much more important than them achieving any level of perfection. Thanks for sharing this in a creative way. Bill

The picture of scribbles is worth a million words.
The words are divine, the memories are priceless.
Worthy of a frame.
The poem, and
the red scribbles.

Thank you so much. One of my best friends runs a frame shop. You have given me an idea.
-
What idea did I give you?
-
To have pictures and poems framed together. Wouldn't that be great for a child's room?
-
I'd like to see them framed together.

A very nice poem, Mary. I suggest a lighter colouring for the poem. Black on red is difficult to make out. Also, the empty space at the end of the poem should be the same as the beginning space.

Well done entry for the Teacher's Appreciation contest. You have told quite a story in these few lines, it is always a wonderful thing when a teacher can appreciate more than what is on the surface.
