After reading about your maid leaving, we actually have this happening in our society today. I'm not prejudice and very much a fan of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I have really enjoyed the historical events that you are writing about.

I thrilled that you are taking the time read this thing from the beginning. Mississippi is probably one of the most prejudiced places ever but though I grew up around I don't feel I am.

My daughter had a friend who lived up north but she was from Mississippi. Last November she moved back home to be with her family. She lived in Jefferson, Mississippi. When she was walking on the street with her grandson, she was shot multiply times. They did get the person who did the crime. It was a tragedy. She was so nice, it's just an awful thing what happened to her. She was only in the 50's.

How horrible. I'm not sure where Jefferson, Mississippi is. I know there is a Jefferson, county. I'll look it up our of curiosity.

You left the reader with a cliff-hanger here.
I loved your stories about the girls in pigtails. OMG, I hope Christi looked good in the Buster Brown cut. I prefer a pixie.
Your husband has his hands full with the ranch work. I think you should have quoted his words when telling son about the bull's anatomy.

Mamie pointing out the color of sheets was clever. I've often thought the same. We're peach or pink.

Thanks for adding the time line at the end.

Thank you for the review and I love your commits. This is just for you. "IT'S HIS DICK, DON!!" I didn't want to offend anyone. There may be readers with sensitive ears. LOL

Thanks for the answer. Guess the boy knew what a 'dick' was. Oh, the variety of names for that awesome object. LOL

Great chapter. I had to find this on my own again by the way. No spags and very descriptive. Kids pick up bad stuff from their playmates for sure. Thanks again. Good picture.

Hi Beth, it's another wonderful continuation to your life with your family as it were. I so enjoy it. I also know that it was such a different time. I was only twelve in 1965, and a kid, but I still get it. I grew up in Denmark, and I was about that age when saw the first black person. I only found one thing:
"You thank you're white. You ain't white. This sheet is white." ="You think you're white. This sheet is white."
All best. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla. I really appreciate the review. i'm so glad you enjoying by story. You thank you white it the way a Southern black person would talk but I probably should correct the dialect because it does look like a mistake. LOL

Granted it does look like a mistake, or you could mention it in your notes? :))

You write About your past so easily. I can't imagine how you remember it all so precisely. I don't know if I could do that or not, however it is interesting and I am enjoying it, Beth. Well done. Nancy

Beth, another lovely chapter in your book. If at the time you did think to do the right thing for your children, then you sure did the best thing. There might have come complications. OK, then you have to re-think and make new decisions, maybe different ones. Your job sounds exciting but time-consuming. With three young children that is not an easy task. I remember having a full-time job, a lazy husband, an evening/weekend University study, and two children. It was exhausting!

Thank you Marjon. We can never know how things will turn out. We do the best we can and often have to rethink things. Having children and job isn't easy, but a lot of people do it. I'm glad I was young and liked what I was doing. My husband was supportive.

Dear Beth, As you have revealed in this chapter, children have very different personalities, even fraternal twins, and then there's always a Carol that will show up in the most unexpected places.
I can see that something is going to happen, and will eagerly wait to see how it comes about.

Thank you so much for the review and the comments. Yes, apparently sharing DNA or birthdays doesn't give the personalities alike. With three kids there was always something happening. Stay tuned.

High time I return your compliment, Beth--your work is my pleasure to read. Love the part about the bull's equipment. (Did your husband use the D-word? I'm sure you were relieved that your son didn't use the N-word.)
Delightful piece. Cheers. LIZ (boy's next door s/b boys)

Thank you so much for the review and the compliment. Yep! He did use the D word. If he used black with Mamie she didn't like it any better. It was before the Black is Beautiful slogan came out. Maybe he said brown.

Thanks so much for the review and comments and a big thank you for the six stars. Of course, call me Beth. I've been calling you Ben. You have to be careful what you say to help. Leave it to those sons. My son was less than three, but there wasn't any point in trying to reason with her.
