Thanks Val for your review and good wishes. The winning entry for this contest was truly light years ahead of its 2nd and 3rd place finishers, including me. I often review the winner's posts because she writes Haiku and 5-7-5s, my typical
FS post - contest or not.

Excellent

There are very few parts of war that are accommodating including the weather. You can have heat, rain, snow and lots of humidity. Strange, wars are never fought in an ideal location where it's sunny and 70°. Best wishes.

Yes a stark reminder of the chilling reality of war, be it long ago or recently- essentially the modus operandi is similar -a powerful statement in a short poetic format

I was never in the military, but I imagine the horror the soldiers frequently faced in foreign lands defending our freedoms or those of others.
