How this poem calls out to a lost childhood. I love this verse, that captures so much in its wordplay:
She giggles
She plays
no attention
A fine poem of wonder and regret.

What a nice review. thank you, Tony. I'm going to give this poem to my daughter tomorrow, for graduation from U of Illinois. An easel wrapped in the very sheet she painted. Ha! She is quite bright. Straight A's. But-she always wanted to work for JPL-a NASA baby. Made the lunar land rover. She has been accepted as an intern this summer. She is ecstatic. Then...she told me she was assigned to the 2020 Martian Land Rover Design Team. I still can't believe dreams can come true. I cherish your reviews you know. Smile. Doug

It's almost like being young again. We re-live our past through our children, it's so lovely to see ourselves in our children. A timeless poem with appeal to any parent. Nicely worded and presented. ~Mel~

Victor,
Lovely write about the tender years of your daughters
adolescence.
The reader can feel the fathers heartstrings being pulled.
A recognition of the daughters awareness of her father's
love and her respect for him.
We as parents and grandparents have decorated and proudly
displayed the child's works of art on our refrigerators.
Your poem reminds us of the simple joys of the growing
bonds between parent and child.
Thank you for sharing.
Peace,
Richie b

I loved this poem. It makes me remember times that I should have reflected on much more, when things like this happened back then. They grow up so fast. I guess that is why grandparents have so much fun, they have more time to remember those times through Their Grand Children.

This is so beautifully written. I can see you smiling as you write these words. I always talk about how life is moving so fast with my kids. Our last one, now 8 is the last to still play with toys. My husband and I are in a panic lol. We're so sad this time in our lives is almost over. Poems like these help hang on to these memories!!!!

What lovely memories you have of your talented daughter. It has resulted in this poetic tribute that must surely bring her joy. There is something very special about a father's love and pride in his child.

Any small achievement also of a child can make every father proud and beam with joy! A sweet sonnet on father-daughter relationship. Enjoyed reading it.

Your poem brings out the sweet love of an innocent child and how it can turn your life into a colorful rainbow. A child can paint your life like a coloring book with many beautiful memories.

Hi Doug, That's very advanced for 6! I'd have thought she was at least 7 and 1/2, or 8. I love that she loves bacon! and Pacman! lol very cute. That's a great keepsake. I love the useful kind :)

Thank you, dear. I cannot swear she was six. She might have been seven. I don't think eight, but time in my memory does get mixed up. Nevertheless, I think we both agree it was a precious moment. Thank you, Doug.

There is a very fine and solid reason Jesus embraced children and admonished his disciples that unless they adopted the innocence of children they would not inherit God's kingdom. Any adult who robs a child of his precious innocence deserves to be sent to the darkest and dankest hole on earth to spend the balance of his days in solitude, mourning his gross mistake.

I am in complete agreement, thank you. Except maybe...I have reticence about severe judgements. I prefer, iof possible, to leave that to our higher power. But, I most certainly do understand you. Thank you. Doug
