Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

It sounds as though your talents were soon discovered! Like you, I hired what we call in the UK a 'nanny' which enabled me to pursue a career while still working from home. I confess I enjoyed the freedom of it all, and the children seemed to thrive in the process. Happy days!

Another excellent chapter which has me rushing on to the next.

Did you ever feel overwhelmed? I can imagine you learned a lot when working in the different departments and kept busy. When you are busy the time goes faster.

I'm sure there were times I felt overwhelmed but I was young enough to be able to cope. The one time I truly felt overwhelmed was just before I finished college when everything was due at once.

Thank you for the review and comments. There is one I wrote called Ridding High for a contest I won second on it. It is still paying. I could use one more review. It's on page one near the bottom. Beth

Hi Beth, What an engaging true story! We really enjoyed reading it and also learned more about you and the printing business back in 1963. It kept our interest from beginning to end. Loved your notes about remembering and sharing with your deceased husband. It is so wonderful to write these memories to share with your children and all of us.Thank you! Wishing you all the best. Keep writing, stay well and God Bless.
Respectfully with Admiration,

Hi Beth, this is so interesting and you're doing so well. But as you did one more job after the other, didn't it occur to you that they should pay you more, as well. And the there's the straying, Robert. I'm glad you knew how to deal with him. I'm enjoying this story. Ulla:)))

Thank you for the review and the nice comments. Yes, I knew I should be paid more but I found they were about to downsize and were only planning to keep a few employees . I wanted to be as valuable as possible. This comes out later. I did the best I could handling Robert but he was one that I continued having problems with.

Oh, he wouldn't have got away with it today. I see what you mean about the downsizing. Ulla:)))

A thoroughly enjoyable read -how little things change in relation to employment and job-seeking - never easy to locate employment - I love the immediacy of the storytelling

This chapter in the printing business was interesting to read. I did not know this business was so detailed and how much work went into it. I learned a lot.

Thank you Rebecca, I appreciate you reading this. Things have changed a lot since I worked in it. It was extremely complicated then. They have totally difference processes now with I believe makes it a lot simplier.

It would be nice is every husband could keep his wife and family well cared for on his salary and still save some money. Times have changed. You addressed this well. It can be frustrating. Nice work. God bless you :)

Thank you so much for the review and nice comments. This is true. Even back then, it wasn't easy for one salary to support a family.

Wow, you became a working mother, just like that! A new maid (and babysitter) for all of you to adjust to, a new job with ever-increasing responsibilities and a "handy" plant manager to manage! You had your hands full.

Here are the errors I found (and I'm now more enlightened about how you could have a proofreading background and still miss them :-)

It was amazing that you were able to take a combination of your natural skills and college education and fit into a demanding job, all while having the responsibilities of a mother when you walked back through the door in the evening. I look forward to reading subsequent chapters, to find out how it worked out with your job, your husband's job and Mamie, the maid. It's remarkable, how much we have to entrust to others sometimes, out of necessity; even when they have references, they're still virtual strangers.
And by the way, I still remember the diaper pins with the duck heads on them -- we still had some around, long after my brother and I were out of diapers.

Thank you so much for the help you give me. I try but still miss many of my errors. It's hard to believe I was a successful proof-reader. If you keep reading you'll find I things didn't always go smoothly with child care. You are right. You are taking a chance when you entrust you children to others.

Captivating. What fascinating work--times three--well detailed, I enjoy the wry asides re diaper disasters. I am intrigued to learn more about the man with the wandering hands, and the undercurrents re Dave. Nice work Cheers. LIZ

Typos: in one sentence you wrote...art work and proof reading... vs their compound forms; $1,00 s/b $1.00, better yet "one dollar"; feed and care for the children (omit "needs").

Thank you for the review and for catching the errors. I don't know how much I'll dare to say about Robert. He caused me a lot of problems I'm ashamed to admit to because his hands were always busy, and I didn't always handle things as well as I should have. I'll have more to say about Dave in a later chapter.
