As a fellow Aussie, now living in NZ, today was especially poignant, and this is well captured in your poem. A friend of mine is lead trumpeter in the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra where I live, and he lives in my suburb with his home backing onto parkland. It was in the paper that he would play the Last Post from his back gate, so this morning i walked to his place and stood in the park socially distanced from a lot of other people. It was very moving, so heartfelt in solidarity. I think everyone had tears, I sure did, and a lump in my throat. Anzac Day is always special, but this time it felt even more so.
I think you do a great job with keeping our special day in the attention of others who are unaware of our Downunder traditions. I try to do the same such as in my haiku Blood Red Poppies.

The carona virus as disrupted so many lives through out our lad? In order to survive we must remember we are all in it together as the virus rip through our lives, the virus is. Not choosy who it infects.

This was once again, well done, Christine. I have a post it note to remind me of various celebrations or memorials thru out the world. I even have my poppy from a few years ago that I will wear on 4/25/20 in remembrance. Bless you for remembering and writing this great poem. Be well, be safe. (smile)

You are most welcome Christine. Here in the USA as well as in Canada, poppy day, a day of remembrance is November 11, I remember as a child we had the day off but where expected to be present at the memorial for 11 am. Now unfortunately, few young people even remember. Okay wipe the eyes.

Yes we also have remembrance day on 11th November Poppy day also
    And we a
so wear poppies on ANZAC day too
Usually we all stand for a minutes silence at 11am I still try to do this
ANZAC day is very revered in Australia and all our young people know about it and are taught the significance so that is good to know.
What part of the USA are you from?
    Cheers Chris

You are so welcome Christine, it is great that the young people remember. For right now, we are in Arizona and this week we are in the low 100 degrees fahrenheit, we are full time RVers, meaning we live in our camper which is really like a small house (46 feet long), so we have seen most of the USA, originally I am from Canada, the sister from the north lol. Take care.

Hi ARY Wow sounds like you are enjoying your travels in your camper van 46 feet long is big. Do you stay in one place for long. Oh how ai would like to be in low 100 degrees at the moment we are heading into our winter and today has been cold and wet becoming worse we have centigrade in Aus so it is about 9 C degrees I do remember farenheight though and 100degree is hot I cant remeber how to convert so 9 degre Cis getting cold and we have our heaters on now It is our Autumn still until June but we are feeling the dold weather starting to set in I don't like cold weather so I enjoy the warmer months and love to sunbake in the summer. My husband and I own a 17foot caravan with twin beds and minimum things just the basic stove and refrigerator table and seating A airconditioner and fairly good storage. We have a 4 wheel drive to tow it and we did a big trip to Queensland from our home state of Victoria last year a few thousand KLs bit loved the freedom of just travelling .We call ourselves the Grey Nomads ( people over 60 yrs who travel around pur country).I would love to do that for 12 momths one time. We have seen a lot of Australia a lot on a motorbike when we were a lot younger in pur early twenties we rode around most of Australia great fun pre kids though LOL We love to go camping on holidays usually at Easter bit have done it other times as well
We are both in pur now late 60's keeping pretty fit Still rideca motorbike I pillion behind my husband's Triumph storm at great bike.
awaiting this virus to finish and hope things get back to normal soon so we can start plans to do more travel
In 1977 we went to Europe with another couple and drove a camper van aound most countries for 6 months wow what a great time we had $6000 for 6 months Ha ha you would need that for one month now.
We are both still working our kids all grown up married so we are very lucky have great kids and lovely granddaughters x 4 so overall doing nicely no debts and good health family and friends so cant complain

Now it is my turn to say 'wow'. We have been full time RVers since 2013 when I retired from nursing. I think there have only been three states we haven't been too and those were my choice. Oh, I had to memorize the conversions lol, F is (?Cx9/5)+32, C is (?F-32)x5/9 if that makes sense. Canada went from F/ Farenheight to C/Celcius I think in the 1970s and so I became efficient in both, whew. Sounds like you and hubby have had a great time.

Chris,

Absolutely. If we, each, take on the brave fronts of those young men and women - certainly we will not only make it through these strange and troubling times, but SHINE.

Thanks so much!
