I found this well written essay to exceptional. Your personal family experience inspires my empathy. There are ignorant redneck Trumpers out there who bring assault weapons to protests. After November their legacy
will forever reside on the wrong side of history.
Very well expressed!

Hello, my friend. I think the protester wanted to be on TV. They succeeded, it was all over Facebook and the news in Tennessee yesterday. Many thanks for your kind words and for those shiny six stars. They are deeply appreciated!
Have a great day and God bless.

Mike,
I was touched by your "rant" -though I wouldn't call it a rant-it was so anti-rant. As I read your essay, even though I was incensed over the sign and how people are starting to react, I could hear your words very calmly in my head. They were coming slowly and from a place of love. The "weak" in our country need a voice like yours to champion for them. You made several good points in your essay, especially revealing the callous selfishness of some people, whose impatience can cost us money and lives. We ARE winning against this virus with the measures we are taking.
Your love for your granddaughter is beautiful.
A fatherly and loving "rant", Mike.
Blessings, love and prayers,
Beth

It is just so, so sad that people are advocating such a stance. I can't believe they are thinking through the issues. Thankfully, there are also stories of great courage, kindness and, as you say, of empathy. I won't say 'take care' as I'm sure you're doing all you can to keep you and your loved ones safe. I will say 'stay strong' until this mess is over.

Thank you for your 'Common Sense' rant. I don't consider it a rant, but a sane reaction to an 'insane statement'. Who in their right mind would wish a thing like that? I am incensed by that statement. I am 88 years old and I guess one of the 'weak ones'. You have so rightly named the others. Yes, God help us, let us pray. Amen

Thank you for sharing. We all are weak in some way. When my daughter as fighting for her life and going through chemotherapy, some people would show up at church with a cold. When that happened, most of the time I had to keep Jessica at home when her blood count was low. Some people just don't think or are very sensitive to others. Jessica has been gone since 2001 but I am so glad we had her for the 10 1/2 years on this earth. She was healed when she went to heaven. Thanks again for sharing. katy

That is a sickening sign, but can they seriously mean that. I assumed those idiots protesting weren't thinking of the possible cost of human life and were trying to support Trump's efforts to get his numbers back up. It almost sounds like that sign is a counter protest to remind people of what could happen if we reopen the State. At my age, i would be considered one of the ones who fits the description of weak. As a Tennessee resident myself I will continued to stay home. I heard The Governor is leaving it up to our mayor who is planning to keep Hamilton County shut down.

-The sign speaks volumes, Mike.
-Unfortunately, there is likely to
be more of that inane attitude,
but I certainly hope not.
-Like you, I am aware of
the issues of the virus, but I
don't dwell on them or want
to write about them, either.
-I can see why you were upset,
and I hope it helped to share
your feelings.
-I hope you continue to see the
brighter side, and not things
like this.
-Take care and be well.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife, and I really understand why you wrote; I would, too. That is one problem with the media. They can do good things, but they also really stir them up and fuel the flames. You are very welcome for the review. Have a good evening and good rest of your week.

Mike, I am touched by your commentary. The "weak" in our country need a voice like yours to champion for them. You make several good points in your essay, especially revealing the callous selfishness of some people, whose impatience can cost us money and lives. We were winning against corona, and then this. I am glad you are defending your beautiful daughter; her life is as valuable as those people who want to prematurely open things back up. Her life trumps recklessness. Because of my disability, some people feel my life is not as valuable as theirs. I almost made the mistake of letting myself think that was true.
A wonderfully persuasive argument, Mike. Best wishes to you and yours.
Blessings,
Cindy

I will start with the end, because is the most relevant point and hope that will get us through insanity:"There is one thing proven by this crisis. We need God's love more than ever before." You are the right, random acts of kindness are washed out by the indifference and egoistic fight for survival on the expense of the weak ones. I have been in your shoes and I understand your need to protect your dear ones no matter what. Thank you for sharing and stay safe and be strong.

This essay. Sacrifice the Weak, is well stated and brings the callous statements of others into their full meaning. Some people just need to be talking. Those idiots will live, of course. Blessings and mercies on you and yours, papa.
