I think this is a good idea to help Eric read better. This is full of a lot of interesting new facts about crabs. I like the mix of poetry and prose. The poem is a good intro to the rest of the informations.

Thank you for sharing your animal alphabet book intended for your grandson, but with a much wider audience available. I appreciated your rhymed introduction and your "Fun facts". I did not know a group of crabs is called a "cast" or that they camouflage themselves. It is hard to imagine a 13-foot Spider Crab! Cheers- Joan

Crabs are crustaceans, and called 'decapods', which means, 'ten-footed' but the first pair is their claws. They also have a thick outer skeleton which helps to protect the soft tissue underneath. A group of crabs is called a cast.
I have caught many just like you describe. Some blue and others various colors and all perfect for eating. Another good one Sandy.

I know, it was a lot, wasn't it? I managed to get one small tin of dressed crab, but it wasn't the same. I blame the Chinese, of it could be the Japanese! LOL. crabs come in light blue suits
They're known as 'Johnny Heads in Air'
and toss off slack salutes
They left their their topmost buttons loose
those Spitfire pilots did
and dropped our parachutists miles
from where they had been bid.
We tell them where we should be dropped
but think they're mostly deaf

This is a wonderfully educational posting on Crabs. Each year the camps at the Cha-om Beach have a crab hunt. The campers have so much fun catching crabs, cooking and eating them. The next day the campers are down and out with diarrhea, but they think it is worth it!

I'll be going all through the alphabet finding out the fun things each does and the books will be going to my grandson's special needs school for dyslexic children.
