A very well-written poem about the wonder lust that drives us to fly away and create a perfect scenario to stop the captured birds to destroy the seeds we create to perfection.

Hello Tony, what an absolutely wonderful way to describe the creation of a poem. Pure metaphor throughout and a joy to read. Poet lusting after those illusive words. Wonder Lust - how well you put it. To write, not just a poem, but something wondrous. Well, Tony, you achieved it with this amazing poem - I love it. A superior piece of work with such a moving final stanza - very powerful. For in the end...........? Thank you for posting. Regards Dorothy x Stay safe!

This poem has me buffaloed. It is about a poet struggling to find the words to write a poem, or is about somebody pondering love, or is about faith? HMMM, I can see possibilities of all three. Maybe something, I hadn't even thought about. LOL However, I did enjoy reading the poem flowed smoothly and the the rhyming scheme was perfect.

Thank you for your review, Barbara. Much appreciated, as always. The intention of the poem was to use metaphorical description to illustrate how hard it can be to adequately express our thoughts and observations in words. Tony

I love the unlimited use of metaphors and imagery in this poem. To pen the words and have them fly away and also die, is so familiar when you are writing. The esoteric aura of the poem is also appealing, yet my curiosity begs to know more of your intentions.

Thank you for sharing this; it is a very interesting and thought provoking write. Clever and the ideas flow together well. I like the images of the birds, fish, and golden scales. Mind you I had to reread this a few times and I'm still learning at each read so it's written at a rather complex level above the usual on here, which is not a bad thing, lol. It seems philosophical too. Very in-depth and insightful.

What a very well-written, interesting poem. Something we can all relate to. How our thoughts, ideas are like the birds, here one minute gone the next leaving a few random, nonsensical words behind. Nicely done.

First, I love the cadence of this poem, along with the wonderful poetic devices you have utilized.

What a beautiful way to describe how writing and thoughts escape us, like the egret carrying away the fish. Then when we try to force it, the words die. Lovely poem, Tony.

Tony,
This group of abab quatrains form a well written poem using extended metaphor well to describe a writer's fight between inspiration and writer's block.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
