Your caring narrative of different situations is such an empathetic exercise. Your renderings show the depth of your heart and thoughts. A very caring person that I will become a fan of. Thank you for your insights.

Single Mum, I think of my daughter, her daughter, how lucky we were to share, and still share their lives.Widower, reminds me of my husband's failing, frail health.Walking home, brought tears close. A dying man, my tears fell.
Sorry I haven't got my 6's back yet because this deserves it.
cheers,
valda

These stories, Alone, are a terrific collection of moments gathered together to make a point. From the determined ex-wife, left to make a life on her own; the man left left in the vacuum of his mate's death; the prodigal daughter returning to the family that realizes that their daughter who was lost is alive; and the dying man given the simple dignity of a witness to mark his passing. All of these were powerfully described and touched me.

Four wonderful stories of which any one of them someone on FS could relate to. I loved the one where the girl went home after four years and was welcomed by her father running towards her. Each of those stories brought a lump to my throat. The last story of the dying man, I was so glad he wasn't alone when he passed, and hopefully his family were waiting for him. All the stories were amazing. Well done, my friend! :)) Sandra xx

What happens when we're alone... i can see the obvious here, various souls surviving loneliness. My first thought is, "is that all there is?" In other words, depth of feeling comes from getting far down into the psyche. Got to get below the surface stuff. Hard to do, but worth trying.

Hi Mike. The image of the house (your photograph) is really nice. I always wonder what happened to abandoned houses and why they were left with no one to care for them. There is a typo here: "Is (are) there parts of our lives together worth saving?"
There is nothing worse than feeling abandoned, whether person or house. In each scenario, the person either blames self (guilt) or reflects on his/her aloneness. Very sad. We all could do things better if we could change the past.

Hello Papa55mike,
Alone! - It's a nice piece of General Fiction having captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and transparently depicting its theme from almost all the angles.
LAUDABLE!

With social distancing and social isolation, it must get a bit lonely for those who are on their own with perhaps few contacts that they can chat with.

I like how you show different experiences, that different people can have, and how each one is fighting their own battles. We cannot always see what is going on in each other's minds, but we can try to be respectful and kind as possible. (Sometimes others might misinterpret what we say or do, but when they show more compassion without saying anything, but rather listening, even if it takes a long time to get the answer, then they might find a true friend and not an enemy they so guessed upon assumption.) Great job in showing and convening your message about what it is like to be alone and what it feels with when souls are united.

OMG - this is really a heart breaker. I recently learned of my ex-father-in-law's death from Corona, so it certainly was relatable. You did a good job exploring the thoughts and feelings of different people. Stay safe! Hugs, Lou
