This is an interesting, very educational piece. I learned a lot about the little creatures. It always amazes me how every living thing no matter the size, the type has its place, it's duty in the world and how the natural balance of things would be destroyed without it. Could you add extra fun facts like that in the back? That way the book can expand on their knowledge when they get older. Give the parents something extra to read. Just an idea. Great job as always.

Hi Sandra, yes, the bats are very useful to humans, and it has some amazing habitats and habits. But,as you mention, they can certainly also be carriers of deceases that are very serious to humans. Another one is that the can be carrier of rabies as well, and it is thought that the present virus may stem from them as well. I enjoy this very much. I'm sure that Eric will enjoy this. And Graham is quite the artist! It's a great idea you've come up with. A hug. Ulla xxx

Yes, Rabies is high on the list of diseases that are dangerous to us. They are debating the corona-virus one, all though it is most likely true. Thank you, Ulla, for this lovely review, I'm so pleased you liked it. I want to finish it and get it published for Eric's birthday in November. 24 letters to go! lol. Have a lovely day! :)) Sandra xx

How interesting that bats will look out for each other in the ways you describe. I'm in two minds about the information at the end. I'd be inclined to leave it in. You can't shield children from every negative fact. The natural world is what it is.
Cheers
Judy

Thanks Judy. I've had mixed response about it so far. If I dilute it a bit, I think they should know these things. Thanks for your thoughts on it, my friend. Have a lovely day! :)) Sandra xx

This is very informative stuff. As far as the main body is concerned there are no problems. I think I am right in saying that in this country there are no known records of bats attacking humans and transferring viruses. If that is the fact, then say so and continue with the details. If their are instances I still think it unlikely that any UK bat would attack a human. They buzz us but thats just a bit of batty fun -- I think.

No, there hasn't been, if fact bats only attack if they are cornered and scared. I can understand why it would start in places like China when they catch and eat them. I'd fight back, too! Thanks Jim. I only put it at the bottom because I didn't think it was good for kids, not youngsters. :)) xx

Sandra, super information about the bats. Several things I didn't know about them. Would you include the perils of bats as well? I think so, yes. Even children could do with this information, but parents ought to be present so they won't get scared. I heard that maybe the covid-19 virus is caused by bats. This is a very actual matter that also children have to know and discuss with their parents. Everything in the open, pro's and contra's, but in a non-alarming way.

Thank you so much, Marjon, for your lovely review. It's very difficult to know what to tell children and what not. I think they need to know they can be dangerous to humans, so not to go near them. I really appreciate your thoughts on that. Thank you, my friend. Have a lovely day. :)) Sandra xx

This is excellently written with a combination of prose and poetry making it a fun read for kids ... and me. LOL This is complete and simply written. I did the same for my grandson using poetry that he memorized.

Very nicely written and informative. Definitely leave this out of what children need, although it is informative for us as an author note, My old house always had bats in the attic. They were okay as long as they didn't come down to visit. Take care, my friend~Debbie

Hi Sandra, we have a lot of bats where we live. They are nice little creatures and stay away from you, and of course being nocturnal means you don't see them all that much, but I am careful to wash fruit that grows here as the bat droppings can bring disease. But they're are obvious benefits from them too.

I think you should leave the informative section at the end. And it's just lovely that you are writing this for your Grandson, I wish you the best of luck with it if you seek representation for your writing, which I would recommend to other readers for review, cheers, Eve.

This is such a cool project you are working on for your grandson, with you as the writer and even an illustration by your husband.
I enjoyed the poem's rhythms and rhymes (end and internal). Your bat information is fascinating, from 6 inches to 6 feet in size, and being very sociable, cooperative, and long-lived.
