Sandra, great job with using your creativity expressed in a very loving and patient way toward your grandson. That is a great example of accepting a kid as he is and working with them to encourage them. As far as the last part, I think I would delete it since people are already freaked out about the virus.

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Bill. I'm not putting that part in the finished book, as you say everyone has really had enough of this virus, and knowing it's responsible for lots of other diseases won't help. A noble enterprise, Sandra. I don't know how old Eric is, but would he know the meaning of sonar and scarper? Reading the rest of the verse I discovered interesting facts. Same with the rest of the post. They may do good, but are they ever creepy to look at.
Vampire bats seem to operate like mosquitoes. I didn't know about the eyesight or the wingspan.

Hi Spitfire, Eric has just turned 12 years old. Although he's dyslexic, he has an amazing quick brain for algorithms. 'Scarper' is a very common word, and children are always being told to scarper when they shouldn't be doing something, or, they'll use the word if they knew there would be trouble ahead. Sonar, I'll double check on, but I'm almost sure he does. Thank you for mentioning that, I do want to get it right for others too. I like this. You've given me some education on bats. I didn't know that they help other bats out when they're hungry. We could learn something from them. I also didn't know that they could see that well if at all. Thanks for sharing this informative and well written work. Well done!

Bats won't go anywhere near hair, I think that came from horror stories. Bats are in most of them! I'm glad you came to read about them, I've been amazed at some of the things I've learnt. I am going to modify that part, but I'll leave it in while it's on FS because I think it's something we should be aware of. What you have put at the end is roughly what I had in mind. Children, especially boys, do tend to like catching horrid things, mice, worms, frogs, to put in their sister's bed! I know these things!!! LOL. Yes! Add it.... and WITHOUT the note to adults: many of your curious youngsters (all of my boys, for example) will 'eat up' that kind of pertinent information. If you wanted to to include it as 'extra' or something, you could make a new section (you don't have to use it for every animal, just on ones that have this kind of cool/advanced info) called something like: 'Bats and the World' or 'Bats as Members of the World Community' or 'Bat's World Community Membership'..... but just a section that allows you to address an animal's impact on the greater community and not just facts about that animal restricted to it... ???? Like I said, my boys would have loved that section!! :) Thanx for sharing, my lady!! ;) Yvette

I know boys like that type of thing, having two brothers and two sons, lol. What you said makes perfect sense, we do need to let them know everything about any animal. I think that they're a protected animal here too... for the most part. I mean, I don't think that if I had killed a bat in my house, I'd have gone to prison, but I expect it's illegal to build a bat box with the intention of harming bats. Without bats we'd be swimming in mosquitos!!! EEEEK!!

Hello Sandra. Bats are not my favorites. Unfortunately, they carry coronavirus. They are immune to the virus as I understand. I would describe them as unusual creatures. They are unique in many ways.

There are many who don't like bats, I'm in that group, but we need them or the world would belong to the insects. I've found out so many interesting facts about them. Did you know there is an International Bat Week in October 24th - 31st, to honour them! I didn't! Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts on bats, Robert, I appreciate it a lot. I learnt a lot while researching for bats, they have their good points and bad. Without them we would be in trouble. So, we all have to put up with them! lol.
