The picture you chose to accompany your poem was a great touch.

"roam ... bleating" very precise words. Perfect!

Spring is a wonderful time on the farm. Great memories!

Best of luck in the Two Line Poetry Contest.

This has a Shakespearean tone to it. I can hear Spring being announced across the theater stage with cheering and toasting with an ale. And the juxtapositions takes place with peace becoming joy and raucous dancing and celebrating. You created all of that in this reader's imagination by the way you phrased the thoughts. I am voting for this. A+ for creating such an experience of wonder and mirth.

Thank you so much, Liz, for your marvelous praise of my short poem. I am delighted I could conjure images of Shakespeare productions for you. Lao I truly appreciate those six bright stars.

I wrestled with this review. I gave six stars, and then took one back... then repeated.

I ultimately gave it five stars because I felt the "Come now" was too awkward, compared to a more common arrangement, "Now comes," which felt more natural, and flowed off the tongue more easily.

Additionally, I felt the comma in the second line should have been replaced with "and" to maintain the rhythm and flow established by the masterful word choices which preceded it.

All in all this is still a wonderful poem, and I truly enjoyed it!

Thank you, Selyob, for your high praise of HAIL,GENTLE SPRING! and for taking the time to comment specifically on what improvements could be made.

I should have mentioned that I lean toward Elizabethan style some times. So, I find myself drawn to similar "awkward" word arrangements as what I criticized you for.

Sometimes I mutter horribly as I delete whole lines and stanzas which are perfect... but so out of place. The curse of reading so much older stuff I guess. :)

This two-line poem, Hail, Gentle Spring, uses thirteen words and acts as a welcoming chant for the long-awaited season of renewal. Neat.

This is beautifully described. Spring is an upbeat time of year and my favorite. Goodness knows we need a way to feel upbeat right now. This painting by Macwhirter is outstanding as is your short poem. Good Luck in the contest. Marilyn

This beautiful rhymed and metered poem is inspirational, describing the normal spring scenes we love to see; they are still there for us even when the times are not normal.

The sentiments are simply exquisite, capturing the delicate and gentle arrival of that precious season of Spring with classic sounds of lambs and fledgelings - this year we should be able to hear all those sounds much clearer since our old world is passing away !

I think most English-speaking people (in
North America at least) would say Spring is their favorite season, although I'm not sure the lambs and birds are more active than in May, another popular month.

I adore spring time when new life begins to blossom on the trees, lambs are born, the flowers grow and the birds lay eggs, the sun shines and the weather is warmer, what more could one wish for, you brought the scene here in your two lines, love Dolly x
