Hi Christine. You've done a very good job of describing the scary times and situation that we're all in. We hope that soon it will be over. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to those in the healthcare profession, of which you belong, to get us through this. They greatly risk being infected themselves, but I think God will protect them for their self-sacrifice to others. Marilyn

This poem, It Only Took One, is a great summary of the world's reaction to the virus as it spreads across the globe. A timely and valuable piece here.

A very well-written poem and indeed this virus epidemic is changing our lifestyle tremendously. I didn't leave my house since Thursday. I could not prepare much but till now there is nothing I need urgently.

I recognised your nod to Banjo Paterson in the first couple of lines. The ballad style and rhythm really suits the delivery of information in your poem. I guess as a nurse you will be getting plenty of first hand experience of this terrible new reality of illness. Stay well! Good luck. x

Thanks for the summary, Christine. Glad you are well and know how to avoid spreading it. We have good cooperation here and people keep their distance even at the post office. I wish with all the updates, they would tell us how many people no longer have the disease and are cured.

The is one of the best poems about the virus I have read to date. It is clear and concise, and explains the current situation very well. The reminders of the seriousness of the situation are also excellent. I specifically like your allusion to what seems to run through all of the Corona virus - humanity, caring for others, and sticking together.
Wonderful poem!

Hi Theresa What a lovely review and comment for my poem I tried to just write from the heart and capture how we may all see and feel about this crisis but give a positive outlook we will get through this despite the rising numbers especially in Europe how sad for everyone across the globe stay safe and well Cheers Christine

Reactions to the pandemic are so varied--ranging from blind, stupid
disregard to full-on panic! People I know seem to have found a sane middle ground. Your writing is vividly descriptive and timely in its cautionary tone.

Great job Christine, a very well penned poem. You definitely covered the spread of Covid19 from day one to the present. We will survive this, but unfortunately the death toll will be enormous and I fear for the very young, the elderly, those that are compromised and our health care workers. Be safe, be smart, be well.

Hi Ary, Thanks my friend and I thought I would add my voice as I have time to do so at the moment and yes we will survive this and be better for it .The death toll is so sad to see in some countries it is climbing by the hour. I hope with social isolation it will halt the spread but I fear we are in for a slow recovery. Still one must remain optomistic Stay well my friend Cheers Chrisx

A most timely post, Chris and a good reminder to us all to heed instructions from the medical community as they try to slow down the progression of the virus so that the hospital system can manage the influx of patients from this new virus that occurred on top of the seasonal flu that already taxes our healthcare systems to their limits each year.

Just a couple of typos:

then passed this virus on throughtout (throughout) Wyhan. (Wuhan)

Excellent social commentary and a pleasure to read and review. :)

Gloria

Hi Gloria Thanks so much for your review and corrections ( I meant to check the spelling of Wuhan before posting and missed the t in throughout so appreciate your wonderful eyes and help.)
As we are all mostly isolated now I had time yesterday to write my thoughts and send it to FS we are all in this together and hopefully will all come out to a better world.
With all the money in the world and self indulgence it take a virus to set us into reality of what is important Cheers Chris xx
