A very well-written twenty word poem. About the essence of life that are often not appreciated and misused in many ways, until we are blocked off from our daily routines we realize what we had.

Thanx for stopping by on this contest shortie, Sandra -- trying to spread some sunshine and remind folks that even though things seem 'ominous' on one front, we still have so much to celebrate! :) Take care! ;) Yvette

Very cool graphic choice. I had heard of ether before when playing a computer game years ago in an alchemistic sort of sense. Interesting poem in just four lines with an end rhyme of rain/champagne.

It took time but I got there (to understand) I did amuse myself however, as you took time in your notes to explain Ether- I then had to look up Postulated, an excellent read and I find nothing nerdy about it, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

Somebody told me one time that if you have to 'explain' your poem's meaning to people, then it's not a good poem (think it was somebody on here last year or sometime when I used some other obscure words... goodness knows it wasn't something I learned in physics or math classes - lol!) Anyway, once in a while I slip into that more obscure mode, I guess. ;) :) I'm glad you didn't find it nerdy, kahpot -- makes me feel alright then!! ;) :) Take care! ;) Yvette

The presentation is wonderful. The title and line above it, lead us to where you are headed, in this fanciful feast for the eyes and mind. Thank you for the education of what Ether is, along with the word, Quintessence. These words show your educated part, and it is nice to read. I really love the first two lines the most. "The sweet taste of sunshine And rich breath of rain..." It reminds me of my piece, A Smiling Word. I love the play with the sense organs of tasting sunshine and breathing rain. Very clever and creative. But that is nothing new, for you now, is it? Fun and upbeat, I like the last line of your author's notes, telling us to celebrate life wherever we are. Good and safe advice. Well done and enjoyable to read and contemplate.
Take care, Jesse

Oh, you are so right that the 'mixing the senses' thing can not only be intriguing but really cool with the applications! ;) So glad you enjoyed this one, Jesse - and sorry, again, I'm so far behind! ;) Be sure to celebrate amidst your chaos of packing and such! ;) Yvette

What a great message in your twenty-word poem. Yes, we have so much to celebrate in life. I like your choice of title "quintessence" and the "ether's champagne." Best wishes in the contest!

Sunshine and rain sing of God and His handiwork. He is so easily seen in both. I wonder if sunshine and/or rain would wipe out the virus...

Your writings are great to dwell on.

In these days of insecurity we should all celebrate each day. A nicely flowing poem with a timely message and beautiful presentation. Good luck in the contest.

I like your choice of taste with sunshine and breath with rain. I can breathe the rain, but I will have to try tasting sunshine. I will open my mouth and let it pour in. I like the possibility that you raise.
I was hoping that this would be your 20 word poem. I am always curious to see what you will offer. You never disappoint. I enjoyed this one, and did not know those facts about quintessence. I don't even think that I ever knew that and just forgot. I love to learn new things so thanks for the notes.
Hope you have your lessons under control. I can only imagine how much work it is.

LOL! Thanx for the wonderful review, MQ -- I'm hoping you're finding some smiles down there these days... you have me a bit concerned because I don't hear as big a smile in your pen these day!! I'm trying to 'upbeat' all of my offerings (when I have time for them - ugh!! But it's slowly even-ing, I think.... at least I'm telling myself that for now - it sounds good, right?! lol!) because we just need to remember that even though things seem 'ominous' on one front, we still have so much to celebrate! :) Take care! ;) Yvette
Oh, and hey! If we just need to meet on at a rest area or something in the middle of nowhere with no one else around to play a silly game of checkers or just 'shoot the breeze' for a while, you let me know!! I'm good with it! ;)

I think it was a good poem with a good meaning behind it. That in these hard times the best we can to is think of the good things in life like champagne. Good job and good luck with the contest.
