Lovely descriptions in this glassy collage of the pond and the reflections from overhead and a nice scattering of alliteration. You really set the scene perfectly for us to visualize with your free verse,
cheers,

A very interesting poem of surveillance. The luster of sunshine on the water that covers shining goldfish and reflects nature's creatures is imagery easily found with your well-composed words. A fine job indeed.

The three present participles that open this free verse set the tone of the quiet pond and the finny movement of the fish within it. An excellent metaphor:

'I watch
the small school
of fish,
little gold bullions.'

together with its subsequent supporting simile, increase the poetic feel of the piece.

An excellent series of word choices, many involving a plethora of 'liquid 'L' sounds further enhances a poem that ripples along in relatively short lines. These entice the reader into its enchanting depths.

I loved it, hence the six stars.

Thank you!!!!! A six from you means a lot.

I hope you and your babies are staying safe and well.

We are. I noticed Paddy was limping without apparent reason the other day. Some anti inflammatory did the trick though and he is right as rain now. Penny is also very well and dashing about like a puppy for all her eight years. We are always isolated so self isolation makes little difference.

A very well-written free verse poem about the goldfish in the pond shining like gold but is only a glimmer of their shining scales that shine like jewels in the sunlight.

Ponds are truly little oases in a backyard, or even in the house. When the sunlight catches on the scales of the goldfish among the reflections of the birds it truly is magnificent.

This is an excellent response to the free verse lustre challenge, Yvonne. :)

This is a descriptive free verse which I enjoyed reading. Koi ponds have a subtle beauty that captivates. There was one that I used to enjoy when I lived in California. The term "little gold bullions" is a great way to describe the fish who are so bright. Marilyn

Hi Yvonne. Thank you for asking about my daughter. She has lots of follow-up appointments, but we feel very fortunate she was so smart as to recognize her symptoms.

Despite the present circumstances, there is still so much we can enjoy--in our own little corner of the world! Your poem is creatively written, descriptive, and delightful.

You do a great job of describing the luster of the fish--gold bullion, scales shining like tiny gems. So true, everything that glitters isn't gold. We can find treasures in everyday things. A lovely reflection on the pleasure the goldfish bring you. Beautifully worded. judi
