Interesting reflection on our pandemic.
Maybe "Thinking about where death is headed" would work for the first line--?
Maybe a comma after "anguish" in the second line--? Changes the meaning; try it and see if you like the effect.

I am not sure about the rules for the 20 word poem but from my point of view, your lines don't connect very well. I think with a little editing you could really improve it. It's a beautiful poem, just doesn't flow well.

I found last night as I began to fall asleep, I was thinking of Jesus and the Crown of Thorns and the nails going through his hands. It made me feel so small, to be so full of what we are going through. Compare it to what he went through. Not a chance.
