Bless your heart. I have a driver story that's horrific as well. Not quite as bad, but, fairly close. Thanks for sharing this informative, engaging, and well written work. Well done!

Thank you Jeffrey. So many people could relate to my driving foibles. Indeed, they overshadowed what I intended as the focal point; that being as Kenny Rogers sang: Gotta know when to fold 'em. In retrospect, I shouldn't have tossed in my chips to begin with. Stop by anytime. Cheers. LIZ

This was both a personal and interesting piece! You have recounted the driving attempts well. Driving can seem like a daunting thing, so I don't blame you. Public transport goes everywhere now anyway!

Thanks for stopping by. Last seen running with wolves, as I recall. So glad you enjoyed the saga of my travails behind the wheel. As Kenny Rogers sang: Gotta know when to fold 'em. In retrospect I should never have tossed in my chips in the first place. Cheers. LIZ

LOL! That is so funny! But don't worry, my first test had me driving around a busy roundabout the wrong way. I think my tester passed out, and so did the other drivers coming straight for me. LOL. It took me a few years to try again. I loved reading your story, it made me see that I'm not the only one. Well done! Oh, I loved your little ditty! :)) Sandra xx

Thanks Sandra--so glad you could relate to my driving woes. As Kenny Rogers sang: gotta know when to fold 'em. In retrospect, I shouldn't have tossed in my chips in the first place! Cheers. LIZ

Very amusing, and a neat little response to a phrase that's always irked me, for some reason. I don't drive either, and now live on an island where no cars are allowed, thus sidestepping endless questions about why I don't. I love 'flailing colours' - nice play on words. A wry look at your experience which I probably found far more entertaining than you did when you experienced all this

Good Evening Liz. I laugh reading your story, I am in your shoes 100%. My first attempt 2013, I have not even tried the road test. Second attempt 2011 and no test road, 3-rd attempt 2019- 2020 and then Corona hit and my instructor interrupted the lessons. Fourth time who knows? Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story and please stay safe my friend.

Thank you Iza. I'm getting a lot of feedback on this now; just repromoted it to #12 for chance of Recognition ribbon per message from Tom. Now that all the road races are cancelled, I've got to earn my ribbons another way! Cheers. LIZ

Jeez, you really didn't want to drive which is okay because none of it was your idea or want. All of it was under duress which hung over you like a dark cloud.
This was an interesting story and I'm glad you got your happy ending of not driving.

Thanks for the bonus Gideon. More so for your thoughtful response. Yes, I rest easy knowing I will never cause a fatality. Clad you stopped by; welcome anytime! Cheers. LIZ

Wow. That's enough to make anyone want to give up. You first have to believe that you can do it then there's no stopping you from it. I'm learning this lesson on a new level. Some lessons repeat with greater intensity when you will require greater expertise at your next level. Driving give you options and freedom. It's a wonderful feeling to come and go when and how you want. It can be a pain to have to wait for someone else to take you where you want and need to go. Sometimes the question is how bad do you want it? Good work!

Well, at least you did try. I wrote a story about my mother teaching me to drive, The horror! What a wonderfully written story. Best luck with your writing!
Have a great day and God bless.

There comes a point in time when one must realize no matter how many attempts they make, they will not be successful at everything in life. Touch of humor thrown into this well crafted posting.

Thanks for stopping by, Brett. As the late Kenny Rogers sang: gotta know when to fold 'em. In retrospect, I'd have never tossed in my chips. Cheers. LIZ

A well-written commentary on why you don't drive. Being raised a country girl, I began driving at the age of 10. My children were younger than that. My father began driving with his Great-grandson on his lap as soon as Mike could sit. You did a great job. Shirley
