A very cute song with an important moral - wives, never nag your husbands. There should be more poems like this. (Though I'm impressed that, in your story, at least the wife helps paint - my wife always says "We should really do...?" and by "we" she means "me" - but I digress.)

Some wonderful rhymes (sofa and loafer among my faves - the bucket one was good also).

Delightful - good luck in the contest.

I think Bob's missus was holding the ladder, and maybe she even gave it a little shake.
    Thanks for reviewing.

Ha ha ha, it seems those men are useful for some things then? I do my own painting and decorating and learned how to do after my husband died and he would be astounded at my determination if he were here now. You did a good job of this fun write Lisa, I liked your funny story, love Dolly x

Amusing indeed. Nice to be paid to have fun. Clever bit: he kicked the bucket literally and otherwise. Nice punch with the closer. Have you thought of this as a jaunty tune, with the chorus? Cheers. LIZ

And, the house STILL did not get painted! Now you have to find a new partner and hope he likes painting houses, he's not a couch potato, he's not an agile slob and he doesn't mind doing chores. Lot's of luck with that. Ha ha ha ha ha. Very funny writing and well written. :)

My favorite part was, "Then he leapt straight up off the sofa
with no hint of the idle loafer,
grabbed a brush and the paint
like a handyman saint,
and climbed up to begin the job.
(He can be quite an agile slob,
my couch-spud blob, my dear old Bob.)", because you can definitely tell it's a love-hate relationship because the insults and compliments are all mixed together!

I think they must be an old married couple, love each other but also irritate each other through their ingrained habits.
    Thanks for your review!

Um - it's sort of funny. Is there a horror-humor category? But the song works and yes, nagging is a drag and it's probably just better to do the chores alone. Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks for reviewing. I was going to have a funny episode when my partner was painting the house and he slipped and got his pants caught - left him hanging upside down... but I couldn't make it rhyme for some reason, so this was the result instead.
