Jesse, (Sage)

Thank you for sharing your beautiful scenery with us in this very well written poem. (not sure if you have moved yet.) You've got some
great imagery in it. You are blessed to have this view:

"Above the rooftops, I spy
clusters of trees nearby.
Farther still, I finely focus my eyes
to view tall timbers lining the sky."

I also especially like the stanza that follows that one about the birds.
Very interesting last line as well. Beautiful photo too.

I noticed this poem was one review from an All Time Best status.
Hope you don't mind me poking around your portfolio to find it.
I'm glad I did find it.

AnnaLinda

Hello AnnaLinda! Thank you for pushing this post over into All-Time Best status! And no, I don't mind you poking around my portfolio at all! I am happy you like the different verses, especially the two you named in your review. I am in the highest building in our neighborhood and that is the top floor/fifth floor. It has a great view, and I am very fortunate to live here, and see the sunrise nearly every morning, (when it's not foggy, or overcast, that is.) Thank you for finding this one and for the excellent review and rating.
Have a beautiful day...you've surely made mine!

My pleasure for sure, Sage Jesse. You wake up to beautiful sunrises over there you say...Awesome! Here on the West coast of Florida, we have some of the most amazing sunsets on the gulf of Mexico - we are 1 mile away from the beach...but can still enjoy the beautiful setting sun...

    Hi Angel.
It sounds beautiful there in the Gulf of Mexico! That part of Florida must be awesome! I am a few miles from the Humboldt bay here in Eureka, California, which is off the coast on the other side of the continent. My friend, Rama, lives there in Florida, too.
Have a wonderful evening watching the sunset!

I hope Rama's health is improving.
I have a son that lives in San Diego...far from you. He's doing some duathlon 2 hours from us in May...so he's "swinging by" for a few hours to visit us. I don't see him often. He's always been a sort of angel for me. He's 34...I think. lol
reply by the author on 18-Apr-2021
Yes. Rama's health is improving, and she is coming back soon to Fan Story.
Wish your son good luck from me on the duathlon!

    Good news on Rama-
Thank you. She's both a great writer and reviewer...as you know.

Ok, will do. He got 1st place in his age class in Daytona in Dec. 3rd overall. I'll update you in May.

It is funny. I think of you as a young spring chicken, yet you have a 24-year -old son who's an athlete. You look great in your picture!
    Have a wonderful upcoming week!

Wow, James, if this is your view, I can see why you would miss it.

You described such lovely images. You took me to your window. I was watching with you. Love it so much!

Is the accompanying photograph a view from your building?

I hope you are safe and well, James.

I visit the site minimally, so I am sure I have missed some of your great postings.

What a wonderful surprise to find this super review with an exceptional rating waiting for me! I am glad you were able to visualize my window view through my descriptions. The photo I used for this post is not from my building. Just a lovely view.
I am as safe as possible and as well as possible too. I hope the same for you. Thank you for stopping by to read and review this poem during one of your minimal visits to FS. I feel honored and am grateful.
    Take care,
    James

This is a wonderful tribute to your view. So sorry you have to move from it, but I can only imagine it will be ingrained in your memory! You should frame this and hang it in your new place of residence. AND, here is to you finding a new and beautiful view to write about.
Great job!
Wendy

Thank you, Wendy. You're right. It will be ingrained in my memory and this poem will help me to remember. You offer a great idea to frame this and hang it on the wall when I move to my new place. Even though I may not have as nice a view through my window, all I have to do is step outside and soak in nature's awesome fresh air and ambiance. Thank you for this lovely review. I will continue to write and post here on Fan Story. The positive support I receive on this site, infuses me with confidence and hope for a brighter future. Thank you for your kind and caring comments.
    Please stay safe and well.
    Take care,

This poem, My Window to the World, visualizes the unique perspective you have had on the world outside. Such a view is something of a loss in the long run.

-Very nice image and
presentation, Jesse.
-What a view to have,
but I am sure you will
always have it with you.
-I appreciate your notes and
am sorry you have to move,
but sometimes things are for the best.
-This is a very well written poem
about all of the nature that
surrounds you and that
you appreciate.
-The imagery paints a vivid
word picture:
"from gulls to egrets, ravens to geese.
A lone bald eagle, proud and free."
-I also like the idea of
"universal symmetry."
-We all need that more than ever.
-Very well done and best
wishes as you move forward.

I am glad the stars and review were a nice surprise, Jesse. You deserved them, and I am glad you appreciated my observations. I find that once the decision is made, it's uphill from there. Good luck with the whole process. You stay well, too.

Oh, be sure to print this out and put it in a frame so that you will have it at your new place of residence! ;) Such a lovely offering, Jesse, I can almost see it... but my favorite part is the blurry vision that allows your mind to play as well!! ;) A wonderful collection of quatrains, sir, that indeed is a beautiful window to your world! ;) Thanx so much for sharing that with us!! ;) Yvette

    Hello Yvette.
I have printed extra copies and will follow your suggestion, and have a copy framed to put in my new home. Thank you for choosing your favorite part. I am not surprised that you chose this, with the wild imagination you possess. I am taking full advantage of my imagination as I hunker down during these times of crisis. I appreciate all your kind comments and love your 'take' on this.
Stay safe, yet have as much fun as you can.
    Take care,

Your poem is very descriptive. I could see all the beautiful images you described from your window. I like the use of rhymes too. It would be great to be at that height and see all the birds and trees in the distance. Your image is a great pairing, too. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

I am sorry you have to move but delighted you chose to memorialize this scene for us. How beautiful to have a panoramic view of nature's glory! I hope you find a similarly inspiring new abode, Jesse... Karenina

    Thank you, Karenina.
I hope to find an even better atmosphere, as far as the neighbors, and I'm sure I'll still be inspired by the natural environment in the area where I live. All I need to do is to take a few steps outside. I am glad you liked the idea of memorializing the scene out my window. I hope you are safe and well.

I am doing well. My husband was at the ER yesterday with all the symptoms of Coronavirus so we are quarantined together at least for the four days it takes to get the results. (sigh.....) Here's hoping it's a nasty cold!--Karenina

    Hi Karenina.
I'm glad you're doing well but, it is awful that your husband may have this dreaded disease! Let us hope for the best, and, as you say, hope "it's a nasty cold!" There's a lot of other viruses going around, as well. Now is an opportunity to get re-acquainted with each other. Who know's it could be fun! Try to celebrate your time in quarantine as best as you can. Even in small ways...watch an old movie, play a board game, etc.
Take good care of yourself and each other.
    Jesse

Ah. NO luck. He tested positive. Still, on the bright side--thus far his symptoms, while many and uncomfortable--have been manageable at home and we are hoping it passes without need for hospitalization. Now I will be ordered in for testing...waiting for doctor's call tomorrow. --Karenina

Oh, I'm so sorry. I hope too, it is manageable at home. Many are recovering and not getting worse, so I hope he doesn't need to be hospitalized. I wish the best for him, and for you, that you end up testing negative for the virus. Please keep me informed.

I will keep you updated. A benefactor on site just sent me $75 in member dollars so I've sent a message to Tom asking him to apply that to another year's membership--such a wonderful and thoughtful gift! I have been tested...4-5 days before I have results. Ed is feeling miserable but able to breathe without assistance so it's great he is thus far able to remain here at home!--Karenina
reply by the author on 01-Apr-2020
Wow, That's a lot of member dollars! And what a generous gesture! 4-5 days will seem like a long time but, you'll have Ed to tend to so, the time will be well spent. I am glad he can breathe without assistance, that's a major plus! I wish you all the best, and hope you don't test positive for the virus!
Take good care of yourself and each other.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, Jesse! At least my three decades of nursing has helped me try my best to maintain sterile technique and use masks, gloves and personal protective gear...
It will be a blessing if I, too, have not contracted it! One of us needs to be well in order to tend to the needs of the other!--Karenina

This beautifully written read has tones of wonder, regret, and a sense of pending sadness, your stanzas build to what one might consider a unwanted descent, an excellent and emotional poem, thank you for sharing what you are feeling, very well done****kahpot

Thank you, Teri. I'm leaving where I live because I need a fresh start. People here see me as an outsider and there is plenty of gossiping outside my door. Even if nature's scenery isn't as grand, I hope the people will be kinder and more accepting of me. Scenery of the heart and soul goes much deeper, and is more fulfilling. Thank you for your kind words and for inviting me to share. Have a good rest of your week.
    Take care,
    Jesse
