I really enjoyed reading this poem. I totally agree with you. I am thinking of leaving this site because it seems that all the good writers have done just that (or died). Love Jen.

A very well-written poem about the words we write day by day are not always appreciated or accepted by the readers, but it doesn't matter. We mostly write for ourselves to clear it from the bugs.

A suggestion, you could be a great teacher to teach people like me who are not very good in grammar rules and usage, to overcome those obstacles especially in prose and story writing.

I don't know if this is serious or a gag, but either way, the proposition is a sad kettle of fish. However, be it a valid observation, what purpose could be accomplished if, as you suggest, it is 'seriously addressed?'
(A rhetorical question.)

"What purpose could be accomplished"? Perhaps FanStory would at least quit showing complete favoritism towards poets in almost everything related to this site and at least pretend to offer prose writers a handful of opportunities if nothing else. It is no wonder MANY good, and popular, prose writers have left this site. Do I foresee this occurring? Not a chance, unfortunately. An example, I tried to encourage prose writers to participate in a rare opportunity presented, and another member attempted to mock the situation because it was not poetry related. Seems to me something is wrong with that picture.

-I appreciate your notes
and concern, Brett.
-I'm glad you continued
your membership, and I'm
not sure what the answer it.
-I don't know exactly what
you are looking for; whether
it's not getting reviews, or
not that many avenues to
explore, lack of good contests.
-Since you renewed your membership,
maybe taking a break for a while or
trying some different things would
help, like finding a new project.
-You wrote a very good poem about
your concerns, and I hope you
find a way through things.
-Good luck with your endeavors.

Appreciate the encouragement. Haven't totally decided what course of action to take. There are things about FanStory that make it a good site...But, then there are an equal number of things to question.

You are welcome. You are right; I guess it all depends which side you feel the most comfortable with. Since you have the membership, you can play things by ear. Especially now, it is nice to have friends here who have a way of lifting spirits. Good luck and stay safe and well.

How ever so true my mate. Not enough prose writers. I agree about the site being geared for poets. I love reading prose and I miss our prose writers. Stick around mate. Did you see Sasha's little video of her at the shops in Mexico? Are you friends with her on Facebook?

Debating whether to hang around and not post or just what I am going to do. Believe we've had this discussion previously. No, not friends with her on Facebook. However, lately, do believe Tom is trying to turn FanStory into the next Facebook. For example, what he's done to the Profile Thoughts thread.

You are right. It is a problem--prose writers are ignored in favor of the short little bursts that one can write in ten minutes and readers can review in two. I know several outstanding prose writers who don't receive the recognition due them. However, most anyone can throw out any poem and receive more accolades than its worth. I'm sorry to see you leave or offer fewer stories. I wish a solution could be found and implemented ASAP. Best wishes with your publishing endeavors. Respectfully, Jan

Appreciate the encouragement. Not sure what direction I'll take my writing in next as to whether I will stay and post or leave. Attempted to encourage prose writers with an opportunity presented to them, and another member attempted to mock it because it wasn't poetry related. These are the types of things that make members question this site and if it is really worth the effort.

How sad! Poignant piece; hate to see you give it up. I hope you'll reconsider== well, you already paid==I must say I find this site a godsend; especially now! Every day is XMAS--to have my work read, and appreciated! Sure, it would be great to get published--if that's your goal, this site can't make that happen, of course. All the best. LIZ

Appreciate the encouragement and the review. No, FanStory most definitely can not help a member get published. I'm not too worried about that though. I am a long-time Freelancer by trade, so in many ways I get "published" frequently.

We all have different reasons for being here and mine is mainly for strokes. My book, a collection of my columns sold about 150 copies. I gave away about 20 to friends and family and a few for promotions. I've tirelessly tried to get everyone to write just three words on Amazon for me. With 50 stars, you get a featured spot. So far, after 9 months, only 18 reviews. Here, I get strokes! And so far I've won $200! I'm loving it, but don't intend to be a lifer. (I did post a poem today. I find I get more responses for them, probably because they take less time to read.) Evan is adorable!

Glad you enjoyed this poem. Appreciate the review. I've used Evan's picture for several of my postings, and decided it would be appropriate for what may indeed be my final posting on FanStory.

This was a very interesting poem. I am glad you renewed your membership! It seems, especially in recent years, poetry is more popular than other forms of writing. All we can do is try though!

What a sad poem, Brett. I take a little comfort in the fact that you did renew your membership. Personally, I review more poetry than prose simply because I seldom have suggestions for prose writing. You are an excellent writer, and I sure hope you continue to post. Don't hang up that pen.

Appreciate the complement. Not sure whether I will continue to post on FanStory or not. Attempted to encourage prose writers with an opportunity presented to them, and because it was a prose thing, another member attempted to mock it since it was not poetry. These are the types of things I question about whether membership on FanStory is really worth the effort or not? So, I suppose time will tell what I do.

That is disgusting that someone would mock a prose offering. I don't blame you for being angry. But, your decision as to whether to post should be about your needs. Personally, I post because it makes me a better writer. It's also a healthy exercise for my brain. I have no publishing plans. I just enjoy reading and writing and conversing with people who like to read.
