Humour can so often be dredged from awful situations. Your song lyrics are highly entertaining, while also carrying the subtext message that inebriation can turn someone into an aggressive loser with no real friends, apart from the bottle, and that addiction is so hard to overcome.

Thank you, LisaMay, for your review and stars. I'm not a drinker myself. Oh! I do have a glass of wine before bed, it seems to help me sleep. I find it very difficult to turn my mind off when I go to bed.

Thank You, Yvette, I always get a kick from your reviews. By the way, are you from England? Thanks for the stars. I do have a glass of wine before bed. I have PTSD and it helps me turn off my mind.

My favorite part was, "They all three make a fool out of me, but they're the best friends I know.
I try not to think when my hand's on a drink, Of Jim Beam, Jack Daniels and Old Crow.", because I can relate as I was once addicted to whisky and all other kinds of drugs but as of the 16th of this month I have 1 Year and 2 months clean and sober By The Grace of God! All Glory, Praise, Honor, and Repect goes to God and God alone as all I did was completely surrender my will and life to Jesus Christ, He's done the rest!

The Lord led me to these verses after I read this,

Proverbs 20:1 New International Version (NIV)

20 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;
whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

Willie,

Hey! I think I may know you! Was that you I saw in the gutter on the corner of 3rd and Swahili last Friday night? You know... hugging three bottles in one hand, and a cute blond in the other???

Come on... tell the truth... it was you, wasn't it?

hahaha This poem/song was a lot of fun. If we were still back in MY drinking days, I might be tempted to take this to one of my hangouts and see if my friends and I could put it to a tune -- while drinking Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, and Old Crow, of course. hahahaha

(Which reminds me - you need a comma after each mention of 'Jack Daniels' please.)

Thanks for the smile -and good luck!

As always, Robyn, thanks for your fun review and stars. I will make the corrections you found. I like the idea of the cute blonde, but
except for a glass of wine before bed, I'm no drinker. Glad you enjoyed and got a smile from it.

Sobering story of a fellow far from sober! I wonder if you wrote a tune for this, or perhaps just one in your head driving you nuts. Drink doubles; forget troubles--bonus: if you black out you won't remember making an ass of yourself either! Cheers. LIZ

Thank you, Elizabeth for your review and stars. I had it recorded, but
lost the tape while moving. I wish I knew someone who could put it to music.

A very true story about some lost souls. The artful way you wrote the poem is very attractive and enjoyable reading. The form was well done and the rhyming was good.
