I am very glad to read a post from you.
The way Jim's monologue ended is brilliant .This is perfect for a low budget play.

Jim comes out as really a solitary person. He does not seek pity .
How do you repost a work? Just promote it with member dollars?

Yes--same thing--just promote with $--I have a enough left for three others.

If I could, I'd forgo the act designations--I am unable to amend the text--no writing privileges. Otherwise, I would make clear that this monologue "script" is intended merely for "no-budget performance"--aka actors' workshop reading!

I'm so glad you took the time to read this--most people (not me) pass on scripts. This is the fourth promotion.

I would have loved to get inside Jim's head--he was inscrutable in life, and alas, when I channeled him for the script, he remained stubbornly secretive. All other characters I've invoked in my years of writing have been entirely forthcoming--indeed, they spew shocking revelations such as I could never have imagined! Cheers. LIZ

Eerie coincidence--I met Jim's sister at the funeral and we stayed in touch, I told her about StoryLand, she expressed interest... a few weeks later she joined ... guess what she found featured on my profile! Blindsided and overwhelmed with emotion, she didn't write a review--she called to let me know she'd found it powerful and cathartic.

I like the way you presented this, with the different speakers who knew Jim. You show a lot about his character and what a private person he was. Jim's words are especially touching, and his scene would really be gripping. (I think you should label these scenes, as it's not long enough for a long play, more like a one-act in length. I was living in MA at the time of the blizzard of 1978--Lynn, MA. It was indeed a snow to end all snows. This is beautifully written. judi

Liz, until I read this, I hadn't realized how much I miss your daily (twice or thrice-daily) posts here on Fanstory. Honesty, I'd forgotten how well you write. You are a consummate pro. I hope others who read this, despite its length, honor you so.

"...my eyes ajar I can almost but not quite see whi ..." [I'm going to assume your omission of the ending of the word was intentional ... and brilliant. It left enough of a casement to hold the imagination.]

I wish you would seek a larger audience for this piece. I mean that! Surely you know that if I had a six, I would plant it here as a placemark for brilliance!

Hello Liz,
I was glad to see that you were back, if only temporarily for a revived script. I found this interesting, but I'm not sure what to make of Jim. I can appreciate his desire for privacy, and obviously he was generous prior to his sickness, but even those whose heart is to give generously need to learn to accept. Otherwise you're robbing others of an opportunity to bless and be blessed by their giving. I guess none of what I say really matters, as it's all water under the bridge at this point.
In any event, thanks for sharing gal.
Have a blessed Easter.
Tom

He sounds as if he were private to the extreme. It is wonderful of you to keep his memory alive here. You did a great job. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday. Shirley

That was excellent, Liz, I was completely engaged with Jim and his desire to stay private. I suppose if someone chooses to live that way, they must be happy in their own way. It's nice to know that he did have many friends. I really enjoyed reading this, my friend, it was beautifully written and such a pleasure to read. COME BACK PLEASE!!! xxxx Sandra

That must have felt good. There was nothing horrid in your story about Jim, I thought it was lovely, in a sad sort of way. :)

Liz,

You're back! I checked-- 'premier shield' - nice!
So, what does this mean, actually? You're choosing us over them? You're going to juggle? You're bored and changing things up? Come on! Give us the scoop!!

This was a delightful, tragic tale, told well. Thanks!

This is a repromotion--I have a few bucks--Premier Shield just means my portfolio is kept despite my lapse in membership.

I am sorry I missed this the first time around. I enjoyed reading this script. I've never read one formed like this before, but it worked well. Thank you for re-posting. I hope you're doing well.

Wow. I think this Monologue quintet are well written. Now I know you used to write long prose pieces before writing short and humorous ones. Thank you for celebrating this friend Jim. I admire him because I was a runner, too. I'm mostly walking, biking, skiing, doing Yoga and playing tennis now.

Well done.
