What is freedom? How do we keep it? Freedom is the indomitable right to live and be from day to day, for our entire life, without duress from others. "Others' means the people around you, and ruling you, and teaching you, etc. When there are wars, we join the fight to protect what and how we live our lives. Young men and women get this and do the duty they perceive to be theirs and some die. How can we abide disrespect towards any of these brave men and women that are willing to fight for us and in so doing sacrifice so much?

What a lovely poem you have crafted in their honor. God Bless you.

Sorry I have no six stars left.

I enjoyed reading this very much even with the sad topic. My father served for the Navy in the Vietnam War. Luckily he came back alive. I think about all the other who didn't. Thank you for sharing.

I do not generally like acrostics because the lines are usually so disjunct. You have good transitions though and each line works toward your final line which is a good conclusion. It ties it all together. We must embrace their sacrifice by honoring the concept of peace. That was my favorite of your thoughts.
I'm glad that I read this one.

A poignant write and this encompasses so many people who have lost their lives in the fight for us all to live in a free society, your poem is a tribute to all of them, love Dolly x

Excellent acrostic poem, author. Your presentation is most tasteful and within your poem reads with a steady cadence and your rhymes add to the sacrifice of these brave soldiers.

Best of luck to you in the contest. :)

All hail the victorious dead! Those who fight bravely, fight with honour and fight for the ideals they hold dear! Ideals that are worth enough to lay your life down and sacrifice for them!

A beautifully well written Acrostic that offers a tribute to those die in the line of duty! Thank you for sharing this one.

Peace and war, life and death, life and hope, many went, and a few returned. they live in our hearts and memories, in the story we tell about them. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Demonstration of peace to see us through.. Unfortunately most of the wars were fought not for freedom but for political reasons.. Very well written poem..

Hello Mystery Writer. There are too many memorials for fallen soldiers in America. The WALL is the saddest monument of all. I am reminded of the following quote, "All gave some, but some gave all."
Well done and good luck in the contest.

Robert

Thanks so much for your review and comments. I am in total agreement with you, there are too many memorials for fallen soldiers. My husband is a Vietnam and Gulf war vet, and by the grace of God he was one that did return home.

    Blessings...
