Hi Amada. I love the premise of this one. White snow blanketing the earth getting ready for the red roses to grow. There is so much image and impressions in this one. Good luck in your contest. xoxo Kiwi

I celebrate your words here, dar kiwigirl, it took me some time to put them together...I hope they flourish!

This is a nice haiku for the contest. We thing of the snow blanketing, protecting the roses that are now in hibernation. Your piece reads smoothly and is well described. Marilyn

Thank you for sharing this haiku. It has the traditional 5-7-5 syllable count, although a hippie professor recently told me that good English haiku (implying mine wasn't) doesn't follow the 5-7-5 format. What does he know; that wasn't what we were taught in school, right? Anyways the only suggestion I can think of is to, especially since this is a contest, include an illustration with your poem. Good luck with your contest entry!

Oh to those old but savvy professors. We try to learn, but...I have my own little story, a couple of years ago, here in fanstory was a haiku and all its derivates professor, Alvin Ellington. He recommended not to use graphics in hailu, senru, etc. he said that our words should "paint" the picture. I woulk like to know what you think about this thought.

Perhaps this might be true, but if you are entering a contest, you want to do whatever will make people vote for your poem. I would confidently bet the poems with pictures get more votes on average that those without...animated gifs are even better. I had a friend on here who has passed away but used to create the most splendid animated gifs to go with his contest entries. He won...a lot...

I see your point of view...I will try to find some snow there in fanstor pictures, even when i am not very versatile in this computer enhancements. I am from the old school.
