Hi dear Yvette,
So achingly and tremulously conveyed is the suddenly too unbearable
quiet when at bedside of loved one lying so ominously still and weak.
True it is, it is in such sudden solitude and stillness, a cache of memories helplessly and inextricably, and mercifully too,
flood in to quell the heartache, as the noise and hassle and bustle
of their lives and worlds were so immersed in and filling their hours
ever so busily, yet still gratifyingly. An awesome poem dear,
that relatable to many of us who have been at such a bedside vigil
of a loved one!
Thanks for sharing dear!!!
Blessings always, Ronni

Oh, Ronni -- THANK YOU for your awesome words here, my lady!! Poems like this are as hard as they are easy because the feelings are so very strong that the choice is simply how to phrase things because emotions are so very strong... I kinda feel like a channel rather than an author for ones such as these (if that makes any sense)... I do hope you have some smiles for the rest of the week over there - I'm fakin' my grin through the gray again here! ;) :) LOL! Take care! ;) Yvette

This is very good. I've gone through those vigils which are draining of our emotions and very hard. Your poem contrasts the vibrancy of life with the tense emotional moments of waiting. Marilyn

Oh my - a truly moving poem and it covers all the bases. Watching, the vigil. A hard hard time of waiting. You've summed it up very well and I can feel the pain through the poem.

Poets have their own settled instincts, and I hesitate to say anything to you. Yet, for what it is worth, I risk sharing my perception (which may not be yours):

You offer vivid images of various epochs together. It is the final vigil that arrives with the unexpected: "I'm tired of cryin'." Your humanity pours forth, for me, most strongly here. The other epochs are weakly set forth due to the emotional distance, no doubt. Works well.

Hello, my friend,

Your heartfelt free verse poem is very well written. You gave me a lot to think and I related to some things in your life. The presentation is very pretty. Thank you for sharing.

Thanx for the review on this one, Gypsy, but it's definitely not a 'free verse'... :) :) It's all good, though, ma'am -- you take good care over there across the big pond!! ;) Yvette ;)

Oh, am sorry. I read on my cellphone and it's hard to tell when it's rhyme.

The poem's wisdom seeps throughout. Those are the times when reverie takes hold and you don't want to let go of all those memories that tied you together. The thought of loss permeates and desperation creeps into the room. And deep in the night, it is so quiet. You found an apt line to end your beautiful poem.

Such a heart tugging poem, over a love one. It was very engaging, how you put together the memories of their years together. Good luck with the contest.

I think this is a good entry for the Quiet writing prompt.
This well written verse tells of missing a partner's noise.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.

Although this seems a light hearted verse here, there is a serious undertone as illness brings the silence and when life has been this busy, the quiet days are hard to take, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
