Hello, Marjon,

I like your 'Blue hued' free verse poem to understand Alzheimer's disease that your husband suffered. It's so hard for people who have the disease but it is also hard....or may be harder for their loved ones. Well done and a worthy cause. Thank you for sharing.

Gypsy, thanks for your stars and your understanding. It is for those who experience this as care-givers that I wrote the series of these poems. Blue-hued is just one of them. More will follow. I found it helped me to write the poems, to give words to the whirling thoughts, and to understand my own role better in the process.

Alzheimers or dementia. . .they are both such terrible diseases. This poem is beautifully written and explains what happens perfectly. I like how you've related it to Mother Nature. I think a collection of poems would be so helpful for many. . .newly caregivers as well as those who have been on that journey for a time. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Moongirlwriter, the second 6 star rating for my poem. I am so very pleased. Thank you. It also gives me courage to post more of this same series here. I know they are rather personal and maybe too intimate poems but I so hope to help some people. Men and women suddenly affronted with the task of caring an Alzheimer Disease patient need help and should not be left alone. Well, in my poems they will recognize that they are NOT alone, that their roles of wife or husband or daughter are changing into care-givers. And that is a painful process.

I've been a caregiver for two dementia ladies. . .it wasn't an easy job. So when it's a loved one. . .makes it 3 times as hard.

Moongirlwriter, it was like hell! If I didn't love my husband so very, very much, I think I couldn't have done it three long years, especially because in the last year he also developed cancer, which, finally, killed him

I am sorry to hear of your experience with Alzheimer's. I too was effected by this heartless disease. I can relate to putting words to paper to express ourselves, it can serve as somewhat of an escape. I enjoyed the read. Good luck with your book.
Happy writing,
Larry

Your poem does evoke a feeling of aloneness and not understanding what is happening and why. It seems to float in and out of reality and make readers think about the consequences. Thanks for sharing and my condolences on your loss. Respectfully, Jan

Jan, that is a nice review and it tells me you understood what I was going through. Those have been three terrifying years for me. Thanks for the five stars!

A poignant piece on the journey of this thief of an illness. I have worked with individuals who have been robbed of their very being from this disease. The piece reflects a walking on egg shells feeling. Not knowing what to expect but trying to accept. The imagery is very powerful in the storytelling of ones journey with this illness. Great job!

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the effects of Alzheimer's on the sufferer as well as those around them caring for them and see their lives deteriorating.
