Melissa,

When you say Sonnet #9 it makes me think I must have missed some...

I hope not. But this one was beautiful. I think any man would love to receive a poem like this. Oh, my. Being compared to a mountain or a deep river? Oh, yeah. I think so. hahaha

Great job. The rhyming and meter were lovely!

Hi Robyn... I think this is the ninth sonnet I have written in the last 3 years ( or ever). LOL. It just seemed right. Thanks so much.

What a beautifully written love poem. I love how you tell him about all the qualities you love about him, comparing them to the wonders of nature. Your great word choice, contrast lets the reader feel the love and admiration you have for him on every line.

A Valentine's Day card for your husband, I see. How sweet and affirming this is. Men need to hear these words just like we do. A fine and loving offering, dear Melissa. Sending you my best today as always,
Sally xoxo

Your sonnet is excellent in every respect. Through specific details you have praised him for his strong character and loving nature. The form is excellent--rhyming and metrical schemes sustained throughout.

This is a perfect sonnet in form, but it's the imagery that makes it outstanding. The mountains and rivers add a depth to the piece. The comparisons paint a picture of quiet strength.

At first sight this looks like a parody or pastiche of Shakespeare's 'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day', but reading beyond the first line shows us that this has a totally different construction. Where the bard is continually arguing against what he has just said this reinforces previous statements all along the line.

The volta too works differently in that it moves away completely from the opening statement even though its conclusion is similar in meaning if not in expression.

Hi Jim. Thank you for your insight and comments. I wondered about the Volta... but went with it. Hope you are having a great day.

I simply adore this idea. Also, your rhymes are really fun to read. The ending is so powerful and beautifully written. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this poem.

This is very strange--I thought I recently read and reviewed this poem and gave it six stars, but it is not showing my review. I checked and found that my review was added to your previous poem of 20 syllables, which I have now read and enjoyed. We may never figure out what happened, but you know how much I admire your work. Warm regards- Joan

This poem displays the love and respect that this man has earned. His trustworthiness is indicated to be beyond question. It is an offering worthy of Valentine's day and every day in the lives of those who love each other.
I have no doubt that the recipient of this adoration adores the poet with equal strength of spirit and gentleness of heart. I think it well written.

Oh, I see you've put this sonnet as a separate post. I do like it and I how your poem reminds me of Shakespeare Sonnet 18, where he comes up with similes to compare his beloved.

Hi Helen. Thanks for your review. I am so glad you pointed out to me that the other one was for 20 syllables. Hugs, my friend.
