I love this poem too. I like the phrase 'the distant tolling,' of the loves you lost. And leaving life happy yet sad is a good description of what someone's life can be, and that it's possible to be both.

What a beautiful, moving poem! You have expressed a sense of urgency about life, but without sounding desperate. The couplet is especially appealing--made me smile.

I found this very well written and I so enjoy rhyming poetry. Your message is quite clear and quite sagacious. I am becoming a fan of our work and hope to much more before........

Hello Jay,

This one certainly speaks the truth about those of us that have lived long lives. I fully agree with you when you say the good has outweighed the bad, thank God for that.

I really enjoy reading your poems, so please stay around as long as you possibly can and keep writing...Bill

I like your poetry content very much. A lot of my poetry addresses
the same subject as I am "at that age". Many family and friends have passed on. I remember them all as though it was just yesterday.
Keep on keeping on.

Time maybe fleeting but your artistic legacy is immortal. Thank you for a beautiful poem that poses many of the thoughts and feelings many of us that brush elbows with our own mortality experience. I throughly enjoyed reading.

Great rhythm and rhyming scheme in this heartfelt tale of time's passage. The ending couplet sums it up nicely, that it's not over yet! Look forward to reading more of your work... ...ec

Amazing read! I was mesmerised with your words all the way through! This poem is really well written and the rhymes are on point! What I really liked is your strong finish where you say...While on my way, just passing through, I may yet write a poem or two! Wow!
Also, all we can hope for in life is for the good days to outnumber the bad ones. I am glad such has been the case for you!
Keep writing and sharing that poem or two you talked about! Have a good day :-)

This is a 6-star but I only have 5's right now. What a heart-grabber. You feel both sadness at the deaths of loved ones and of your own one day, yet you continue to find enjoyment of memories and of living and writing. Your last 2 lines are exquisite and memorable.

My guess is you will write more than a poem or two. I very much enjoy the introspection here woven with sorrow that your friends and loves have passed on before you.

An excellent sonnet form to write a most important message for all posterity.

A pleasure to read and review, Jay.
