I have to give this six stars. I too know firsthand how forgiveness can and must be for us to have peace. When I was 19 my own mother tried two times to take my life and had I not been able to forgive I am sure I would not have peace to this day. I made peace with my mother forgiving her, but often wonder if she was able to forgive herself for what she did. I am now approaching my 82nd birthday and have been saved now for 61 years. God forgave me so much, so why should I not be ready to forgive others?
BTW my life story was done as an Unshackled radio drama. If you google Patricia Lawrence/free indeed, you will find the links to hear the story. It is a two part story, program numbers 3325 and 3326.
I wish you the best in the contest with this wonderfully written poem.
God bless.
Patricia Lawrence

Thank you for your review and generous rating. I think those who truly understand the power of forgiveness are those who have experienced it's deliverance first-hand, as you obviously have. "For whom the Son sets free is free in deed". May our Lord continue to bless you.

This poem is structured in such a way that one MUST keep reading to gain a full understanding. . .or at least try to gain a full understanding, which I did not. But, there is so much depth. . .that I know what I have read has helped you grow into the person you are today. Thank you for sharing this lovely piece of writing. Best of luck to you in the contest.

Thank you so much for your review. Yes, the poem is based on a personal experience in my youth, but I think most people can still relate to it. Although happily, in my case *the suspected infidelity of my father did not ultimately lead to a broken home, even those who did have their parents go through a divorce can still be set free by by the healing wings of forgiveness.

My favorite part was, " A fiery, luminous dart ~ It flew >>>>
broke through the darkness ~ blew new life into all dying things,
unfurled its glorious, healing wings!" Because of the imagery I saw in my mind of this happening and the rhyming was on point!
