Rarely do I give out six stars. Had you not explained the criteria of a Hazel poem I would probably have assigned this five stars. But confining and conforming your stanzas to such strict parameters deserves the extra one. I do love the energy and emotions you infused along the way.

I am so pleased you enjoyed my Hazel. Yes, writing one was more challenging than I expected. Many thanks for your kind praise and that bonus star. Rod

A very sweet and upbeat piece that reminds us of those little feathered friends out there who rely on us to care for them in the frigid winter months. Great entry for the contest!

I really loved how you told a story within the poem, but still made it flow well and be engaging to the reader. I am glad you got to feed the birds! Best of luck!

Oh boy - you have cardinals - we have the others as well, but that splash of red must be very nice. Good job on this form - I like the way you ran lines together and used the rhyme pattern.

I am delighted you enjoyed my paean to my feathered friends. Yes, cardinals do come in pairs and doves often crowd out others. I enjoy using enjambment as a poetic device and am glad you approve.

A very well-written poem for bird lovers who like to feed birds during the winter in order for them to survive the cold weather until Spring comes back.

Thank you very much for sharing FEEDING FEATHERED FRIENDS.

How nice of you to keep the birdfeeder full for the feathered friends. I had one years ago but my husband said it was too close to the driveway because our cars were getting pooped on constantly so we had to move it further away.
Good luck with the contest!

Thank you for sharing FFF, Patty. Yes, finding the right spot to put a feeder is not always easy. Squirrels find a way to leap from bushes?even my roof? onto my feeder. A baffle doesn?t always deter them either.

-Lovely artwork and
nice presentation.
-You capture the nature
of having a feeder, and
the birds' reaction to it very well.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-I like the second verse, showing
your guilt over the empty feeder!
-But all is well in the last one
with a feeder "full of feathered pals."
-A good entry; good luck.

You created a wonderful picture in my head. It was like watching a movie. I can feel the worry and shame she had for forgetting to fill the feeder for her friends.
