Sunday is finally here. This just had it all. Love and a memory SO real, we could dance together in the creek or wherever. Superb.
Sending you my best today as always, along with six stars.

Your longing is palpable and your desire to remember is as well. You've given voice to a condition that any one of us who have known love and communion with our others can speak too, grieve the loss of, and continue on, even though that longing may last for our lifetimes. You have done what a poet is supposed to do, accessed your readers hearts and triggered an emotional response. Thank you.

Ahhh, memories. You paint a wonderful and whimsical picture of post heartbreak. Recollections are softened by time as the river smooths the pebbles. The spirit dances with a dream.

I very much like your free verse, Melissa. You immediately put your reader into the setting and emphasize the tone in the description of the river.

Further accentuation of the sense of someone having left behind pleasant and private memories concludes with the resolution I'm alone.

Excellent work and I hope you will be writing more free verse, because you're good at it, and I like it. :)

A very well-written free verse poem about walking alone where you walked with someone else before who is no longer with you but a part of them are still within you.

This short poem tells the story of a woman who enjoys walking along a river wrapped in "hazy mists" while missing her lover who used to hum a tune beside her. Easy to visualize her dancing alone. Love the artwork chosen. Rod

Melissa,
This sounds like a poem of grief for a lost spouse. It shows her loneliness and her love. I like the idea of dancing to a tune he hummed while alive.
His spirit may join her.
Keep writng.

Hi Joan. It is coming from the perspective of loss ~ could be from death or leaving... either way, she is remembering and missing him. Glad you liked this one.

A delight to read.
Memories are so precious and you do great homage to this memory with your free verse poem.
Often the best moments are those enjoyed in quiet solitude.
Blessings

This poem is ok. I do apologise for my ignorance but if you would be so kind to inform me what it is to make something worthy of 6 star rating I would be eternally grateful. Do I really have to write one about religion ??

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Hi Frederick. Each poem is rated for its own merits... construction, theme, presentation, correct grammar, spelling, etc. all go in to reviewing and rating a poem. Sorry you thought this one only worth a three star rating. A six star poem uses the correct format for the piece, plus adds imagination, clever wording and emotion. It touches something in the reader. Hope this has helped. Have a lovely day.
