WOW ... I think you said it all and you said it well. Welcome back from sabbatical, please stick around, we need some people with Common Sense around to help keep the ship of state on course - Jerry

My favorite part was, "If we want unity to prevail in our country once again, then we must come together for the common good. As John McCain once said when he was attacked for being the voice of compromise..." Going against the tide, not following and making up our own minds individually is so important!

What ugly truths you have to share with us. You hit the nail right on the head with this writing. And while I am saddened reading it, I was also compelled. Thank you

This well-reasoned, impassioned plea deserves a much wider audience than FanStory. You bolster your argument with well-chosen quotations from genuine leaders.
Very well written.

I've been persuaded that the old philosophy, "cometh the hour, cometh the man." Or, one could say, does the electorate create the atmosphere, or do the politicians? I would have a look at the heart of collective man, rather than blame a relatively small collection of men. I think this is a time of virtue's loss, rather than enlightenment. That has always been the historical problem. The blame game has been around since forever. But thank you for your viewpoint, well done, blessings, Roy

Thanks for the read Roy. I do agree that the electorate to a great extent has created the present atmosphere in the political arena. However, we also have a collective of politicians that have been seduced by the power of money. Thanks to the Supreme Court ruling in favor of Citizens United, the floodgates have been opened to billions of dollars of dark money flowing into various campaigns. There is no accountability where these funds are concerned. This has led to the decline in integrity where elected polititians are concerned. They are beholden to those who contribute heavily to their war chests. Example: the NRA has contributed in excess of 30 million dollars to Trump's campaign. There has to be a quid pro quo for that kind of support.

As Jefferson said: Experience hath shown, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, reverted it into tyranny.

As always, I appreciate your perspective. Many thanks!

Thanks Marissa, I once had affiliation with politics, but that when I was a twenty year old boy, but greed is not confined to politics, I?ve realised that correction starts with me, not others. But bless you, Marissa,

But that we would all get that message Roy. Like anything else involving human nature, people would rather blame others or circumstances in general, rather than accept any sort of personal responsibility. In order for things to truly change, we need to own our part in the present situation.
