Bill, I especially liked that you opened the scene with a fecal smell. That's the way I'll always remember animal shelters. I understand more up-to-date shelters have eliminated that. I haven't been to a shelter in more than thirty years. The dialog appears natural and not forced. You have, in a few words, described the scene, the characters and the conclusion so that all readers should understand and comprehend what your vision is. Well done.

Bill, I especially liked that you opened the scene with a fecal smell. That's the way I'll always remember animal shelters. I understand more up-to-date shelters have eliminated that. I haven't been to a shelter in more than thirty years. The dialog appears natural and not forced. You have, in a few words, described the scene, the characters and the conclusion so that all readers should understand and comprehend what your vision is. Well done.

The one-eyed dog with the hairy horn is one turned away from you, so all you see is it?s tail and anus. For Pons it was a joke description, but Ned took it literally.

It has some humor in it, but mostly it's so sad and really succeeds in calling attention to the plight of these poor shelter animals. I guess you put the humor in, to offset the brutality of all that "euthanasia." Interesting that Ned, who seems like such a ding bat, is the one who has the most compassion for the animals, especially for the one-eyed pup. I like that; turns stereotypes upside down. This would make a great skit (to be performed with other acts, I suppose) for an animal rights or no-kill shelter fundraiser, or a pet adoption/publicity event.

Thanks, Mary Kay. That?s a nice idea to put this out to aid animal rights groups. Of course, in that caseI?d probably have to eliminate D-Red?s sarcastic tone.

You're welcome, Bill. If D-Red is kind of a "bad guy," folks just might love to hate him! He's a character and not a real person. But you would have to be ok with it. And if it was really going to be performed before an audience, you'd have to make sure the language was all clean and probably PC as well (making sure not to offend any nationalities). In real life nothing is very simple, I guess! But if you wrote something specifically for an audience of animal activists, you'd be starting off on the right foot. Food for thought.

Ned is up to his usual, and very amusing. Pons is so erudite he probably knows how to spell German shepherd. (I just watched the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.) I'm glad the euthanizer is out of commission for a while. It's good that Ned's thinking about all the pets that deserve a shot at finding a home. Just my personal opinion, but I would lead D-Red out of this. He totally changes the tone. judi

I should get Pons to write this stuff. He does spell better. He would likely skip D-Red as well. If only he were real.
