So, you just completely made all of this 'playing catch up' worth it, Doug!! ;) :) Thank you for those lovely stars and those encouraging comments! ;) :) Was a crazy week and I have all the boys home this weekend (HOORAY!!).... I'm attempting to get caught up while they're outside working on cars with their dad!! Don't know how far I'll get, but we'll see!! ;) :)
And my favorite part of the review is the dododo wahwahwah.... the only thing that would have been better (for us fantasy gal types) would have been supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (or Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo... but that one's too sappy with the whole Cinderella thing - lol!!).... of course, jabberwocky would have been just fine! ;) wink, wink! ;) Thanx for your review on this one, Rikki: I do so enjoy playing with a presence of mythology in the present -- kindof an easy escape when you don't have a lot of time on your hands! And who doesn't like the 'quick escape' without chemical assistance?! LOL! ;) :) :) Take care and have an awesome week out there!! ;) Yvette

A coin for each way, but only one coin given to the passenger. Very few who have sailed upon Charon's vessel have returned to the land of the living. And he is not happy when they do.

So a wandering ghost or ghosts, it you count Brandy. This is a well told story in which I found no errors. I like that Charon is waiting at a bar for
his patrons of hell. I like the Greek mythology intertwined in the story.
Congrats on coming in secont, Yvette.
Keep writing
Joan

I loved the way you have beautifully and perfectly interwoven the flash fiction within its limit of words and the suspense created until the end of it. The dead man has to paid to cross the death river otherwise Charon will not take his soul to his eternal hellish condemnation in front of Lucifer. The originality consists of the detective presence. I knew about the story from the immense Divine Comedy by Dante that Italians must study it at school. We Italians say Caronte and Acheronte and Stige, etc. Great Work!

Being a mother of three sons plus the fourth male in a house you surely have so little spare time for yourself and I do understand it with my large family! I am please that you appreciated my review and I thank you for friendship and help. Take care of yourself and may your star be brighter than ever before my friend! Tony

Good luck in the contest Yvette. This was rather interesting. I enjoyed the level of suspense throughout, it did indeed have a surprise finish. Charles of course had an equal surprise. Well done.

I really enjoyed this story. Your imagery and dialogue really made it easy to picture what was going on. I like the supernatural element revealed in the end. It was a delightful read.

Hi Yvette, I love how you mix the story with history from the past. It's well written and it has a somewhat air of mystery about it. And a surprise ending. Good luck in the contest. Ulla:)))

Well done, combining historical information with a story such as this. Oh now I get it - the shot, the bang was someone shooting him. That's an interesting story from the past - crossing the River. Hadnt' heard that one before.

This is a delicious mixture of real ale and Greek mythology, enough to make any man want to spend a penny. Your blend of humour and realism makes for a rollicking good tale. Very much enjoyed. Good luck with this one in the contest.

Hi Yvette,
I really enjoyed your flash fiction story, and also the dirt on Charon, the Greek god who was the ferryman of Hades. I wouldn't want to see that river Styx. Just the Jordan River, thank you very much.
This is well written, and should do very well in the contest. Good Luck!
So Charles wasn't just drunk, stumbling around and talking soberness to himself. He was ...dead. You hint at the mystery of the night... Brandy, and his infatuation with her, and a massacre. Others were dead, too. We are left to wonder what happened. These days, there are a lot of crazies out there. It doesn't take much.

Thanks for sharing your talent, my dear!

Cheers,
Kimbob

Oh, Kimbob, you are too awesome!! What a wonderful review, my friend -- I am so very glad you enjoyed this one (even though it could be considered 'dark', I guess...didn't set out to write dark, but I just go with the muses, ya know?)
