I love the artwork you choose to go with your poem, the were cute and a prefect match you captured my attention from the start reading you story broke my heart its a shame grandma was so unhappy that it only when she upset other she was happy she must have been hurt sometime in her life and won't let it go.I hope things got better in her heart and mind that is no way to live.

No, she went to her death bed at age 74 still a mean, negative, angry woman. Thanks for reading and commenting. Linda

Creative image: joy-sucking. Waht a poignant tale, so sorry that it is a true one. You vividly portray this angry woman and the ripple effects of her wrath. Quite a punch at the ending: the day you "almost" owned roller skates. Cheers. LIZ

She certainly sounds like a bit of a dragon, Linda. This is the kind of event that would have left a deep impression on a child. No wonder it is still with you. Well told.

Tony: she was a dragon until the day she died. Thanks for reading. How did you fare in the Australian fires? Linda

We have been fine so far. Just a bit of smoke pollution from the Kangaroo Island fires when they were at their peak.

Your poem the Day I Almost Owned Roller Skates told a clear story that fit the title. The picture worked well. I would recommend changing the category of the poem to autobiographl for the contest.

Number 1 - it is NOT a poem. It is a story. I used the category 'family' because it was about family.
