This short verse tells a political truth.

Sadly this entry for this contest is too true. Our country is in serious trouble for this reason. It is so sad to see. Thanks for sharing your insight and I wish you good luck in the contest.

yes this is an interesting observation that seems to be right on target, so to speak- just when knowledge is now at our fingertips it seems to have lost its lustre - hardly a positive development !

"Peer Pressure" indeed - they're not peering in the right direction, just trying to fit in with their buddies or keep noses up his arse.
Your poem is succinct, accurate, and painful.

    Blind allegiance knows no shame. Somehow a situation has developed where they just want to keep on blocking the truth so he can keep on believing his own version of it, which will keep on causing damage. It is puke-making and I'm not even American.

You listen to.
Truth is not frantic
Nor is it pedantic,
It is simple truth spoken
Out in the open -
Demonstrated by actions
Ignored by some factions.
Truth is not vitriolic hate
It doesn't pontificate
It is offered simply as it is -
While getting on with important bus-iness. :)

This is an excellent 5-7-5 poem and entry for the contest.
Sadly, intelligence seems to have no relevance in current politics.
Distortion is what wins elections: power, money and influence.
You've touch the essence of what ails many countries today.
