Hello Iza. I have said before I like your writing. This is a horror story. There are many traps in the world and even the clever animals cannot escape them forever. Your words are a social commentary. It does not appear to be fiction to me. This is a good story to win the contest. Good Luck. I wish you well.

You make some interesting points. Wouldn't it be more enjoyable to do a work/career you enjoy and retirement is a non-issue? I agree with some of your points. Especially the 'free to die'. Very true and seems to be where the US is heading. Also the points about GMOs and created viruses.

I think you wrote it with plenty of wit and sarcasm, but the English needs to be smoothed out some. It was hard to read in some spots. But I get the overall drift of your essay; It's all rigged, you pay taxes, you struggle to live, and then you die. It's a classic fatalist dogma. I thought it seemed very much some essays I read once from the old Soviet journal, Kontinent 4. It had that stoic Eastern European fatalism about it, ingrained from dealing with years and decades of political corruption and a world without faith in Jesus...without whom, nothing makes sense anyway. You may as well jump off the roof now if you don't believe in God, it's all a meaningless struggle for self survival. estory

No worries, from where I came, God kept us alive all the time. We had the churches open even in communism time:) Thank you for stopping by and I really appreciate your honesty. I guess the fatalism is part of my gene, and the death of those two friends it's a real story.

Most countries actually don't have health care or pensions anyway, Iza, is it in Rumania? I noticed life expectancy in Canada is lower than other OECD countries, The public hospitals in Cambodia are absolutely dour, if you're there, you lie on iron beds, if relatives don't bring food, you starve, there's virtually no medical care. We do have free health care in Romania and pensions, but also private care. In Canada is free, but to get an MRI done is taking at least 6 months. By the time you get to it, the cancer is spread already.
