In my pronunciation fireflies has three syllables too, but if need be I can take it right down to two. lol. I like the shape in the first two stanzas as it adds visuals to the glows of the fascinating insects. Moonflowers of course are always a favourite and this is a very visual peace with a serene tone.
A most enjoyable poem. :)

It's a delightful poem! And I do enjoy fireflies. I don't know what a moonflower is, but I think I like it, and I love the idea of dancing with the fireflies. The rhymes are pretty, and so is your image -- altogether lovely!

This is the first I've seen this poem and you've made me fall in love with it with this fantasy poem about one of my favorite critters. It's lyrical and fun and makes me wish we had fireflies to dance with here in Washington. I'd still dance with them, at my advanced age lol.

You could add "on darkest nights" at the end of stanza
two to make them all the same, but it's lovely just as it is.
