What a wonderful way to honor your siblings. Each one seems to have very distinct characteristics from one another. I am the oldest of my siblings and can't imagine what the view was from my youngest sister as we all grew up. There is a 7 year difference between us. Thanks for sharing!

This is a very nice bio, Bill. I enjoyed reading about your life and employment. We always like to know about our fellow writers. As I may have told you, My son was in the Marines from 1992 to 1996 and my son-in-law also a Marine. Your writing is clear, interesting, and concise. Good job. Marilyn

Bill,
That is very militarily factual (am just teasing you a little) and very interesting. I hope you are enjoying your retirement and your grandchildren.
I was very impressed with your various tours in the marines and also getting your college degrees after all those tours. I bet you have stories about your years of teaching that would be neat to hear.
Your bio is certainly one of service to your country (for which we thank you) and determination to continue and finish your education - both very admirable.
Good job.

This is another great bio. It's more detailed than the others which seems appropriate since he is your main character. I like how you added all his ups and downs, his career changes. That made it seem more realistic. Glad this one has a happy ending.

Thank you, MD. I see I was a bit wordy here. I actually pared it down to this.

Wow! Imagine me standing stiffly erect and executing a by the book salute of respect to a soldier who has stayed the course, fought the good fight and happily returned to civilian life whole. As far as mental state or condition, I am not able to speak. Nevertheless, You are someone I deeply respect and honor. Your years of committed service make my paltry four years seem like nothing. I think that I should be a bit peeved at you because knowing what I now know, I will hesitate to tease you the way i used to. On second thought I know that is not what you would want, so, it is still on.

Thanks, nomi. The drawback to making the military a career is that it becomes a livelihood instead of that memorable time in youth when you took on the world with a band of brothers.

Hi Bill, we get a lot more about you than about your siblings, that's for sure! So, why'd they 'ask you' to leave high school? lol It couldn't have been too bad, you seem to have made a pretty damned good Marine. :) My cousin was in Desert Storm. My mother called and told me, said that she thought he'd probably appreciate a letter from me and that I should write to him. I did, and he told me, and only me apparently, where he really was. He'd told everyone that he was way behind the lines, cleaning sand out of machinery, tanks and such, because it was such a PITA there. He didn't want his mom to worry. He was on the front lines. When it came time to go in, he would be in the first group... on the front lines. Then he made me swear not to tell anyone. I hadn't seen this cousin since he was maybe 10. A scrawny little kid that would only eat hotdogs. That was all I could picture. I was horrified. Several years later, I saw him at a family reunion. He's the size of a tank and won't eat anything now without hot sauce. Said he got that from being in the Marines. LOL

That's a great story. Funny thing in Desert Storm I called my wife on a payphone in the middle of the desert during a SCUD missile attack. She watched the attack on CNN while we were talking. .

You've had a very interesting and productive life. The years in Africa and the Middle East must have been tough. Thanks for sharing your story with us. I enjoyed reading it.

Man alive it sounds like you have a heckuva story to tell about Somalia. Chasing war lords, yikes.

That must've been an interesting contrast to teaching for fifteen years and to see all the injustice build into the school system.

These brief bios have been most interesting. :)

Wow! Thanks for giving us a whirlwind view of your careers, Bill. I thought you were younger than me but now I have to rethink that. But you have a grandchild that is 18? You certainly did start early!
Thank you again for serving - I'm sure all those experiences have fueled your writings. You also briefly in Japan and Korea, right?

I was stationed on Okinawa twice. While there we deployed to mainland Japan and South Korea.

My, you have been a busy person. Congratulations on your 33 years of marriage. This sounds like a resume. It seems military had a big influence on your life, and that's how you got going in the right direction. You also put in 15 years as a teacher after that. That is quite a resume. I'll be interested in how you put all the siblings together. judi
