A well written short review, Rikki. Important highlights too. It gives us an impression of the movie. Those days the Native Indians were always the bad guys.. Times have changed. In the film Dances with Wolves it's the opposite. The color of your skin does not make you a good or bad guy.
Well done and thanks for sharing. Fia

I liked your review. However, I do wish you gave us more insight. Is there a romance between Natalie and John? Is this a sad story? Entice me to want to see the movie. Any surprises?

This is an interesting review, Rikki. I enjoyed reading it. I like how it starts with door opening and ends with the door closing. You gave some good points about the movie which I have not seen but will look for on the movie channels. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

Thank you for reading and the review, the best place to find it is the western channel TCM or TBS. of course there is prime if you have that.

I used to love going to the movies when I was a child and our family love westerns. I don't remember seeing this one but I'll keep an eye out for it. I don't think John Wayne made a bad movie, did he?

He did one where he played a detective that was somewhat of a let down. Thank you for reading.

Hi Rikki,
Movie reviews may indeed be your forte. You obviously have a sense for visuals and bringing that insight and other cinematic elements (e.g., music) into your reviews.
For this review I would welcome more commentary on the film's music beyond )enhances the emotion( - What emotion? Your comment about Holly's song shows you have insight and knowledge that many readers would appreciate. ... especially Millennials who might ask "Buddy Holly. ... Who's the dude?
You offer a tease but fail to deliver. Who beat out Wayne for the Oscar? Why? Do you agree?
More future movie reviews would be welcomed by many I'm sure. How about adding a rating like 3 Rikki-Tics out of 5!

You can't go wrong with writing movie reviews. I haven't seen this film, but by your description I might take a look.
The inspiration for Buddy Holly's song, That'll be the day is an interesting tidbit of information too.
The stereotypes back in those days were definitely clear-cut and not even remotely accurate.
I look forward to your next movie review. :))

It is a good view especially if you like the Duke or excellent storytelling. That is the best information i have on Holly and the song. The sterotype's
were a century old at the time of the film.

Rikki--
I think the movie review idea is brilliant. My only complaint here is that you do not say more. Do not reveal more of this film's plot. I recall it as being very..."hard," meaning not "romantic," not romanticizing the west a bit. I think Wayne is searching for as lost wife or daughter? And there is no...glamorizing of this at all. Maybe my memory is poor? But, hey, tell us more! This is barely a start you have here. It could be twice the length, at least.

He is searching for his niece. No there is no glamorizing. This was a first effort others will be more in depth.

I have not seen the movie and actually I have never seen a movie from so far back, except a few of Charlie Chaplin. But you wrote about it in an interesting and intriguing manner so perhaps I will watch after all! Thank you!
