I'm addicted to films with sad endings and I love sad music too ...especially country and Greek.
The melody and words of this song are melancholic. ..
The singer is homesick and come spring when the snow melts she and her lover will be homebound to where the snow-white cotton grows.
One of my all time favourite sad songs is "Snowbird" have you heard it? ..I often play the 45 single on my father's record player.

Alas, submission can be beautiful as well at times! Or that at least, is my interpretation of this one. If you love someone, and I mean really love someone, it is okay to tether yourself to them and let them bind you under their spell.
