This is such a wonderfully written, deep poem. I can feel the power emanating from it's every line and that's awesome. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this poem and I think we could all use more poetry like this.

your post is heart felt and well meant.
I wonder though, at there being no mention of the changes - good changes - for the black people under this administration? And the lack of it under O'Bama's. I think if you check the statistics, you will see that this is true. Things are better, now - chances for all kinds of things, jobs waiting to be filled. Mr. King fought the good fight, but our President is fighting it, too, my friend, against all odds.

Pome Lover yes I agree that there has been change and good numbers of people of color are doing better, however worldwide and certainly in America, we still have grossly ignored the fact that there is wide spread racism still abounding under the surface and government programs will never fix it, minds of people have to fix it.

well, it has been my experience that usually there are underlying reasons for the feelings people have. Maybe the ever-increasing shootings, robberies, looting, rioting have something to do with it.

    PS
Flatrock is a neat place. I remember when I was much younger, sliding down some falls, there.

A very well-written free verse poem in tribute of MLK's words that we still need to hear every day. We cannot fight hate with more hate or darkness with more darkness we need love and light to change the world's attitude.

Beautiful poetry in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King and his legacy, reminding us that we have not come far enough. The picture with the quotation is perfect.
A few spags:
Daughters and sons - no apostrophe needed; daughters should not be capitalized (unless you're capitalizing sons, etc.)
There should be a space between the last two words.

A touching poem in memory of Dr. King. The vacuum created by his loss has truly never been filled.
