Hi Jim. I think your well written poem speaks of a situation that has finally reached resolve. It seems to me that most people DO considered all races equal thanks to the efforts of peaceful protest such as MLK proffered. I'm glad of it, too. Marilyn

Marilyn, yes we have made such tremendous progress with exceptions that are perhaps simply never resolvable until man can be more Peace centered than patriarchal in nature.

This is a good informative poem about MLJ and what he was able to do in his too soon shortened life. May your week be blessed.

How true! If only everyone could live this way, as Martin
Luther King wanted. Kind, selfless, strong with peace. I admire him immensely. Your poem flows beautifully. Your words are lovely. The image you chose complements your poem perfectly, as do the words that accompany it.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem with us.

In my opinion, I shout my support for this tribute to a truly saintly man, one inspired of God and an inspiration for the ages. He has left his indelible mark and will continue to glorify the spirit of men of good will - smoothly constructed in movement and conscious respect...

I see you re-did this from the first time I looked. The formatting looks much more appealing and draws attention to your fine words. I had missed the end because of gaping and knew something was amiss.

A beautiful tribute to a man who changed, and is still changing our times.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally xo

"If only people could open the doors of your departed soul! And reclaim your vision, your voice, your mind, your zest.Renew the vision, continue the talks, invite the conversation"....This could easily be a stand-alone poem! I love these lines. The whole poem is noble and human in its entreaty and dream. To honor a man by continuing his work is the greatest form of flattery. MLK had a good soul, and wise words that were birthed from it. He changed history. How many of us can say that? GREAT , worthy poem.

Tina, I am very humbled to get this six star review based on this free verse poem about Dr. King. He would have been 91 years old on January 15th. I often wonder what the world would look like if he had completed his mission.

    Now there's another poem!
    What WOULD the world look
like? I just couldn't help but
    give a 6!

If only humanity would stop taking one step forward and two steps backward, this world would be a better place. You did a top notch job with this poem - I loved the message. Hugs, Lou

A beautiful tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King. He had a dream! But, someone stopped his voice before we could hear it all. I wonder if he hadn't died that day, what would life be like now, if we'd had the chance to hear the rest of his dream.
RIP

Patty

Patty he would have been 91 this year on his birthday, January 15th. What a different world it might be if he had been able to complete his mission...

This is a wonderful tribute to Dr. Matin Luther King! I love how you repeated the line "if only people could open the doors to your departed soul". His work was so life-changing for so many and went even further to bring a change of attitude to all. Thank you for sharing! xoxo

Diana, I thank you for the validation on this work. He would have turned 91 years old on January 15th. So much work achieved, so far to go worldwide.

I can?t believe so many years have passed! He still might not be so happy though with conditions today especially in the city communities where drugs and gangs are the norm :(

Yes, if only. And I think your repeated line reminds me of King's speech style.

Question: There's a long empty space between "If only, what a better world it would be!" and the lines at the bottom. Did you want that?

"To see the tear streaked faces of mothers losing son's," (sons) plural
Daughter's husbands, simply because of the color of their skin. (Daughters, husbands) plural.
"other's feared, out of ignorance, the color of someone's skin." (others)
