I understand your feelings, Aussie--sad about the loss due to fire but happy that the rains have come. Your poem is written from your heart. I can feel your love for your country. It is heart-breaking about the people and animals lost. But as you say, Aussies will pull together and forge ahead as one. Lat line--the word from is used twice--intentional? Thanks for sharing. Respectfully with Love and Admiration, Jan.

G'day Colin, The fires ate Queensland (my state) Victoria (separate) New South Wales (separate) and Tasmania (island off the coast.) It's not over yet...the rain is helping so much. Bless you, Kay XX

That is wonderful news! It has been a time of trials and tribulations for man and animal. But your land and it's people are tough. You will rebound in time.

Hello June (all wrapped up in winter gear?) we are in a heatwave, still it is summer down under. Ah, the sound of rain on the roof, never mind the washing! Thank you, love, Kay XX

I live in America and mourn Australia's loss of lives, wildlife, and resources because of those raging fires. Your poem describes both what was lost and the joy you feel now as the rains finally came and your countrymen pulled together. Some lines seem a bit contrived to fit the ABAB rhyme scheme you chose to use.

Hello Rod, Thanks for reading. Yes, not easy to rhyme some lines. Writing from the heart. Cheers, Kay.

This poem certainly expresses desperation, but it also points out that after four months of drought, rains came to help, and that also "Aussies pull together in disaster times." I like this line: Fear and favour joined hands
and hopefully everything will find some lasting relief soon.
