Great job with this writing about waiting for winter to pass so we can enjoy spring again. Don't you just love that word, "hunger?" Thanks for reminding me to use it again.

Hey Yvette. That's a great picture. My favorite part of A Christmas Story is when Ralphie looks out the window of his bedroom and sees the ice on all of the trees and the harps are playing. Every time we have an ice storm, we lose power. I have a very negative view of ice. Z (~_~)

LOL! Are you sure all of the spiked eggnog was out of both your systems by that morning...?!! ;) LOL!! Do not give poor Ralphie anything else to drink... and I'm thinking you should lay off as well... LOL!! :) :) Thanx for your review on this one, Z -- like you, Winter is number four in my list of favorite seasons.... can you tell?! LOL! :) ;) Take care and stay warm! ;) Yvette

Ralphie has been eating fermented dog food. I have been chugging down the black cherry flavored seltzer so we're both a little dizzy and lightheaded. (*_*). Z.

I knew it! That would account for the harp music! ;) :)

I hear harp music everyday. :O

This is a wonderful presentation. The image is lovely and adds well to the subject of the piece. I love the phrase, "hunkers down." I haven't heard that used in a long time. It's time to bring that back to life, and you have done it with this fine poem. I love the metaphor of being "Imprisoned" by Winter, and Spring coming to the "rescue." I'm sure it feels that way in the freezing cold of Winter. This is enjoyable to read, and I am cheering for you to gain Spring again.
Take care, Jesse

Hi Yvette.
Winter's my least favorite season too. I've been cold at night but, it's tolerable during the daytime. It was so windy and stormy last night that PG&E sent more representatives to our county to make sure the power stayed on. Fortunately, it stayed on the whole time. Cheers sent your way.
Take care, Jesse

This is a nicely composed 5-7-5. The illustration with the feathery branches tinged with snow lead us to believe that spring isn't far away. I guess midwinter we're all eager for rescue. Marilyn

You have used the seventeen syllables allowed very effectively in your winter poem. The figurative language is vivid and lovely. Our enjoyment of winter's beauties is often lessened by the fact that we're COLD!

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about winter's prison that keeps us indoors when it is too cold outside, while waiting for warmer days of Spring when we can enjoy the sunshine again.

Imprisoned again
An ice-wrapped world hunkers down
'til Spring's warm rescue
I truly love this one and it would have been a winner in my books for a contest. Very well thought up and so very true

I remember well those days of imprisonment up north which I now only observe from a distance as two dimensional images on television. Best view of all. As for springtime, we still had mountains of black snow covered with exhaust fumes which lasted until our one month of summer. I think I was born to be a southern girl!

I am with you, in prison! Spring seems so far away from this picture, just as a rescue may seem it's taking forever. You accomplished much in the few words, because it takes the reader to places in their own minds.
Here's to bring freed soon!
